Insurgent Soldier Variation
I'd kind of like to see more variation in the Insurgent forces, as in, every insurgent spawn kit having a different skin (So that the Insurgents themselves look more varied) and distinctly so, rather than with the AKS-74U and the AK-74 classes, where it's basically just a slight color change, I also wouldn't mind seeing more different types of vehicles.
Obviously, there's much higher priority stuff to be done in terms of PR, but I feel as though it'd be a little bit of effort for a lot of immersion. Thoughts?

Re: Variation
This would be very time consuming for 32 skins for insurgents. I do not know if it is possible in the engine. I think if you would like to see more skins for maps that community mappers should just do it by themselves. Often developing your own skins is very rewarding as a learning experience.

Re: Variation
Sure the idea of not having anyone look the same is awesome for all factions but having that many skins will really increase the size of the mod.
And it already is 3.69 gb big.

Re: Variation
I agree, with that statement. If someone wants variations just go learn how to re skin models so they can have those variations.

Re: Variation
I'd have to agree with the other members who have replied, it doesn't seem that this small aesthetic change will yield and raise such popularity that having varied weapons has, and trust me, everyone loves mixing and matching their favorite Kalashnikov's over looking at each other's faces and skin tone. Gameplay > Aesthetics

Re: Variation
While Game play is indeed of greater priority than Aesthetics, it doesn't mean that the both are in direct conflict. This is a great idea, and instead of trouncing an aesthetic idea/change, we should tell him if 32 different skins can be generated for the ins side in a game, and pointing him to links of skinning tutorials.Drunkenup wrote:I'd have to agree with the other members who have replied, it doesn't seem that this small aesthetic change will yield and raise such popularity that having varied weapons has, and trust me, everyone loves mixing and matching their favorite Kalashnikov's over looking at each other's faces and skin tone. well shit guys, it's not 32 skins at all, it's 7, as opposed to what, 4? (G3 and AKS74U (Blue shirt flak vest), AK74 (black shirt flak vest), AK47 SKS and civi (white shirt), and the Shotgun (Black shirt)

Re: Variation
You need to explain how this will benefit PR as a whole.
The, "I would like" argument doesn't fly here. You have to understand that no one is going to want to put any effort into this unless you can provide a logical reason as to why they should. Such as game play benefits or realism.

Well I could say how did making all new shiney kit geo's and shades for US forces benifit gameplay
Realism aguement is as follows in real life do all peaple in iraq/afganistan wear white or black shirts only?
some models are allready made and unused like green tracksuited red nike trainers guy that was a civi model once for example.
Working on the insurgent or opfor factions is like a dirty word around here.

eg community factions

Re: Variation
Even just a different colour for each spawning kit would spice it up a bit. I concur that it's a small, arguably moot change, but it kinda feels like it'd have an effect. I mean, even just changing the sapper/AK47/Civi three to being different coloured shirts would have an impact, can you see where I'm coming from?

Every spawned in kit (rifleman, officer, medic, etc) is "Bound" to a certain skin IIRC.

Each of the spawn screen kits is set to a certain soldier model, which is in turn linked to a specific texture.Dev1200 wrote:Every spawned in kit (rifleman, officer, medic, etc) is "Bound" to a certain skin IIRC.

Re: Variation
One type of variation i would like is more differences in the LMG for some factions. I mean, i know the PKM is a widely used LMG but it kind of gets repetetive if you play an insurgency, then Iron ridge, then Beirut, etc...
Anyways, kit geo's.. How about a shirtless Insurgent geo?
That is if someone IS playing to DIY

thats not how it works mateAnyways, kit geo's.. How about a shirtless Insurgent geo?
you spawn in as a soldier model with a texture, the geo is for your kit. The stuff on the civilian for exaple is his texture whereas the pack he gains from picking up a blufor pic is a geo.

Re: Insurgent Soldier Variation
I do agree with Jak having a small amount of variation between the insurgents would be nice, it looks so boring when theres 32 players all running round with a towel on their heads.
keep the nike trainers though, they're awsome.
