[Help] bfeditor blue flashes on screen + minimap help

Post by Element-X_IV »

Would like to ask for some help.

Ever since I tried lightmapping to see what my minimap looked like after deleting the lightmap files, when moving around in my map in bfeditor I get these blue rectangles and squares flashing my screen, I can barely make my map with it. Suggestions?

Minimap problem:

In the minimap for my 4km map on the top right corner, that area on the minimap seems to be shaded.
I've already made 3 minimaps over the time and all of them have it in the same area.

Any help/suggestions on how to fix these would be great.

Thanks.

Can't say I've seen that before. What GFX card you using? also might be worth trying OLDER (note, not newer) drivers for your GFX card, like the ones that came on the CD with your GFX card, they might help.

New Drivers, epically for ATI cards (the main reason why I switched from ATI to nVidia a few years ago) a lot of the time screw up old games / programs.

Hmmm....

I'm using an ATI HD4850 Sonic.
I've tried reinstalling drivers though it wont work though.
This all started when I had to close the editor after it was lightmapping continuously for 2 days rather than the previous 2 hours.
Since I think nobody knows how to fix this I'm just gonna work on the back-up of my map (thank god)
The back-up is working fine, tho I have to do some things all over again :/
Thanks anway.

But what about the minimap?
Can I get help on how to remove that shaded area there.
I also have grids on my minimap after generating in photoshop.
Is it supposed to do that or am I just doing it wrong?

Ye your GFX card is too new to be worth trying to use old drivers on it, next time you buy a GFX card I would recommend buying nVidia so you dont run into problems like this, although saying that I do have a minor problem with the editor with my latest nVidia card although my last ATI card also had the same problem hehe.

As for the minimap, try generating it a second time (backing up your old generations) and see if you get the corner that was bad good a second time round, if not, try just adjusting its contrast, brightness and possibly even colour in photoshop to try and match the other corners :)

ATI 4670 user here, and fixed this issue with the minimap on baghdad many a time.

1. Install Photoshop CS3
2. Turn off antistropic filters in your catalyst control center... set it Application Controlled.
3. Delete your lightmap folder
5. Open Photoshop CS3 and leave minimised (also fixes the 4km terrain bug, very wierd)
4. Open map in editor
5. Regenerate ONLY Primary Terrain lightmaps
6. Regenerate Hemimap, try the resolution 1024, ATI doesnt like 2048 for sum reason.

It Should fix this issue, If it does nothing but changes it all to green, fiddle with your CCC and check your catalyst AI is set to advanced.

You wont be able to run your map ingame until you have regenerated Primary/Secondary Terrain Lm's.

As for the Blue flashing stuff on screen, i think is separate issue to the minimap, cant help there also not seen it, check your fog?
