pontoon

Post by psychickactivity »

Good afternoon gentlemens. :!:

I propose something, the map we play with the boat , is it possible to construct a Pontoon like a fire base for respon , we dont use enought this little boat , an helicopter can depose a create , and we can construct a (pontoon base).Or something else? Why not?

Exemple, in Jabal , i know we havent boat but look , helicopter give create , a SL ask for pontoon , it s construct like a fire base , and after 2 boat can respon , like this it s more easy to go in this big river ..

Imagine to Qwai , and Barracuda , so...

If you like my idear , kooool

If it s not good , ok ;-)

See you ..

Is it realistic?

Find a source that armies regularly build sea-based buildings which they use for command purposes.

thank you Jonney (yes, I'm using my sarcastic voice) but I know what a pontoon bridge is, however I don't undestand what it has to do with what he's suggesting in regards to this, i.e. I didn't understand what function he was suggesting.
like a fire base for respon
if this was simply a bridge suggestion I'd have just linked the CSBs

There is no point in an object that is used to produce boats ingame if the mapper wants you to use boats, he'll give you some :)

One would assume that this would not be constructed during a fire-fight, but after the ground was taken to allow heavier vehicles though?

I don't think it's needed (a near water FOB would do it I believe). Boats are rarely used in game on my experience, and when they do, they are disposed-of quickly.

And a DEV is bringing-in a tacticool deplpyable bridge!

Also when I first read the message I was thinking you were gonna suggest a "Pontoon" (Clouseau's sidekick). XD
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Way too big. They took several days to be put into place, handled only the unloading of supplies and were only used until a deep water channel port was captured (Cherbourg). Floating FOBs just aren't realistic.

Those docks are built with piers not pontoons.

Yea,alot of military simulations do Pontoon building,im not sure if they would work on Qwai or Jabal, but Barracuda would be perfcet for it!

all i can find on this idea is about the US thinking about making something like this but only as a main base:
sea bases. warfare. high seas « international environmental law
this was about a year ago soooo... that means maybe in 5 years they'll have something like this.

Yea,maybe the devs could replace the Essex with larger pontoon carriers that can hold jets and helos and boats on it sides!

Sounds cool,i would rather have the island chain as the pontoon map and the Eyl as the reg one with carrier.

how about instead of spawning boats, it spawns a supply truck? on the land. to simulate the transport of those vehicles from your ship to the beach head, FOB needs to be near by. so for maps where the first flag is a port for the invaders, instead of instantly getting a spawn of supply trucks you have to first build one of these. maybe one small boat too
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.
