Looking for headset

Post by boilerrat »

Looking for the best possible headset around $25 USD.

Must have:
stereo sound
comfortable

Optional:
USB plug
adjustable sound

Doesn't have to be new, if any of you have a nice headset which is in perfect quality I would be interested.

I would not really recommend you to buy a used one.

But nontheless you have more fun with a decent headset which does not have to be uberexpensive. Mine was around 50$ i think. Was really worth it though.

I would look for one with:
- stereo sound as you said
- ajustable mic (not on the cable)
- a wheel to change the sound volume (just cause they are more precise and I had really bad experience with others)

Yep yep, I wasn't sure what to call that wheel so I said "Adjustable sound"

I saw this one here, how is it?

Oh sorry I must have overread that.

Well I would not buy the headset you suggested. I would spend 10 bucks one something better.

I found this with a quick search: Speed-Link SL-8781 Medusa NX Stereo Gaming Headset
(This is only an example).

The first reason why I wouldn´t buy the TekNmotion headset is that it is a really low price product. Not that this means that in general they are not as good.
I experienced that low price headsets are in general less comforting. You would probably want one you can wear over a longer period for playing PR.

But more important is that the TekNmotion headset does not have stereo sound. Again here low price headsets will most probably have a worse sound quality also as far as you can differ the direction the sound comes from.
This I experienced as well with a low price headset and it can really kill fun when the sound appears to come from another direction.

To sum it up: If you want to go with a cheap one you should be aware that the comfort, sound quality and the direction from which the sound appears might be unsatisfiing.
I would really spend 10 bucks more on one with stereo sound and a bit more quality.

Plantronics Gamecom. Most comfortable and cheap headset. Strong foldaway mic, recessed so it can't be damaged easily. Unlike many headsets it hasn't got glaring design flaws like the Senheissers, which suffer from some of the worst incidence of dry joints (bad soldering on the wiring) i have ever seen. don't buy SH unless you are a wizard with a soldering iron.

3.5 jack version is just fine. many option in that range though, so shop around.

377 i have and its better than some £90 headsets i have had.. Don't bother with a dolby 5.1 set unless you are watching dolby movies through them.

I ended up getting a budget increase and picked this one: Newegg.com - ABS AZ1 Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound Light Weight Circumaural USB Gaming Headset

It had the most reviews and best price for the quality from what I can see.

I know any headset I buy will be better than my current one which has terrible mic quality and
mono sound which is no good for mumble, I ended up using ipod earbuds with this thing on while using mumble and having a jungle of wires on my head:

Ahh ok I thought that´s supposed to be the one you bought. Well from the looks of the one in the link you made a pretty good choice.

I read the reviews, people are complaining of it being really really flimsy.... among many other problems that alerted me to keep searching.

I want something that is going to last me.
