64-bit Shorcut issue
Hello
When I run PR.exe, it gives me the "fix your shortcuts error". I know there are many posts & guides regarding this issue, and even though going through all of them thoroughly, nothing seems to help. I've had this issue pretty much from the first time I installed pr, ( year or two ago) so I've never had the opportunity to fully play it. All this time I've been trying find the solution for it on the internet, but nothing seems to help, so consider this post my last resort.
I have updated my bf2 and pr to the newest version, I am running a 64-bit vista, I have tried to run pr by the shortcut that the installation comes with and ran it as an admin. I have deleted bf2 and pr and deleted any file that was still related to bf2 or pr, and then reinstalled both. I have tried to run pr from the source .exe, and many many many small things...
Is there anything I haven't tried or is there anything you would suggest? If so, please post in this thread.
Thank you.

Re: 64-bit Shorcut issue
I suggest you clean up your pr by completely reinstalling BF2 and PR again.
make sure to step-by-step follow the instructions here:
https://www.realitymod.com/manual/pr_manual.pdf
I generally suggest turning UAC off (atleast during installation).
Are you maybe installing BF2 via Steam?

My UAC is off at all times, sorry forgot to mention that. I also have done what the manual tells me to do, multiple times. And I don't even remember how many times I've reinstalled bf2 along with pr and cleaned any file left that was related to the games.
Oh and, no, my bf2 is retail

Re: 64-bit Shorcut issue
please provide us with a screen shot or the .lnk file itself so we can have a look ourselfes
I think I read about some kind of batch file which replaces certain files as they are supposed to be. However I can't find it's thread right now.
edit:
double check your running it with admin privs.

Yeah I just installed PR as well but i get this error saying...
"pr.exe has stopped working" and that windows is looking for a solution but then just takes forever and doesnt give me any feedback. So if a fix for this is found PLEASE do inform me by PMing me or emailing me.

1. It shows a big rectangular image saying project reality
2. It shows a big rectangular image of the bf2 logo
3. It appears as if game will start because the screen goes black as it should
4. It just goes to desktop
I hope this will give you a better idea of what we are dealing with here.
EDIT: ok so now when i try to just start bf2 to sort of calm down from this frustrating error now bf2 or and of my bf2 related shortcuts work at all! they just say shader error and yet i was just playing them before i installed pr

Make sure you have BF2 patched with 1.41 and 1.5 (in that order).
Try further searching the forums, plenty of threads already around with your problem.

I checked that I am running on full admin rights, just to be sure, and I am. I'm also pretty sure I tried those batch files way back, and they didn't work..'[R-COM wrote:SnipingCoward;1372396']please provide us with a screen shot or the .lnk file itself so we can have a look ourselfes

Anyways, here's the picture:
Yfrog Image : yfrog.com/45errorqnj
It lets me logon onto my profile, and then it does that. It has never let me through that phase.
And before you ask: I have made sure that i'm not running bf2.exe. Also the pathway is correct so there should be no way for it to say that

Re: 64-bit Shorcut issue
To clear it up: Its not (only) about your user account having admin privileges, it is about running the application "As Administrator" (Right-click on PR shortcut and "Run as Administrator"). Or in the compatiblity section of the short cut's properties check "Run as Administrator".Berz3rk wrote:I checked that I am running on full admin rights, just to be sure, and I am.
(Maybe you are doing that already but I have to make sure we are not missing a basic thing like this.)
Please post a screenshot of the properties dialog of your PR short cut too.
