Changing Loading Music back To .8

I loved the .8 music, all of it and was a little disappointed when the menu and load music was changed.
The New music is great but i just dont want to replace the much older music that ive listened to hundreds of times. Call me Nostalgic
Is there a way i could change the client.zip so i can put in the old music?
Where would i get the music?

I would prefer the .75 menu theme.


I don't think you can change the client.zip without punkbuster having a heart attack because different music might make you aimbot.

Most of the old music is hanging around the forum somewhere, just run a search.

i uploaded all the soundtrack up to 0.75 on youtube, link is in my signature.
but i forgot to choose a high bitrate when i converted them so the quality is very bad
perhaps someone got a link to an old client.zip or PR installer...

While I do prefer the .75 menu music, all of PR's music is just plain superb. It's a lot of work to get the music to be just right.

The .75 theme is sheer bliss, and the old .8 music sounds like the theme from splinter cell for the first few dekaseconds.(Finally a word-number between minutes and seconds when neither minutes nor seconds applies.)

Yeah actually is specillay if you are waiting for a server and that main music is still playing.

I like 0.8 the best as it makes me rember the 1st time of the excitment i was having when i was about to play the game.Bring it back!

What i've done is replace some of the terrible loading music with the older PR tracks which I think were much better. Although, it's limited to what you can change it to because if you add any new music files to the common_client.zip, PB kicks you from the server.

To alter a levels loading music without being kicked, go into C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\levels , then into the map folder which you want to change the music for, then open the "info" folder, then open "levelname.desc".

For an example, opening kashan's file looks like this at the top:

<music> common/sound/menu/music/map7.ogg </music>

This is the text you want to be changing to alter the loading music for that particular level. To change this particular track back to the 0.87 one, the text "map7.ogg" you should replace with "PirateX-Desert_Heat.ogg".

To find out the filenames for different music that can be used, open your common_client.zip in your PR directory, go into sound>menu , and then copy+paste the filename you want into the "levelname.desc" for that level.

So basically, you can change only the music playing when loading using the method I described above, but sadly not the main menu music without being kicked. You can change the menu music it if you want to, but you'll just get kicked after a few minutes by PB.

I do miss the old music.

It had that sort of... "Joining Battle, loading battlearena, validating: Recruitment Accepted. Welcome, Soldier" type of feel to it.


Like.. how elevator music is perfect for elevators, this music is perfect for loading..
