Where is my hard drive space?

Post by darklord63 »

I'm currently using a Studio 15 Dell Laptop and I cannot account for about 100 GBs on my hard drive. The hard drive is 176 GBs and only 31 GBs are free. In the control panel (add or remove programs) I only have 66 GBs installed. I have run disk cleanup and disk defragmenter. Where is that 100 GBs of **** hiding?

Just in case you have vista running (maybe as well win 7):

Vista reserves space for it´s backups and restore points etc. I don´t remember how much it exactly was but I tried to change that on my system and it only went semisucessful because vista really holds on to that reserved space which is not really needed.

I don´t remeber how to do it though but maybe you can google for reserved space vista and find it out yourself.

As far as I remeber it took almost a third of my 150gb right at the beginning before I put anything on there.
