PR on High Settings crashes

Post by MiG-1991 »

I usually play BF2 on max settings, but if I try PR on high it crashes constantly. Can someone please help me? I hate it when everything looks like Play-Doh.

Post your computer specs please.
If your computer cannot run PR at high settings it is probabaly gonna crash everytime.

I believe it is due to your textures being set to high, or something along those lines. Its quite a common problem i think as PR requires at least 4GB of ram ( i think) to handle textures on high cause the maps are so big and there is so much stuff on them. If you just turn your textures to medium and leave everything else high it should be fine i think. but dont quote me on that :p

Old computer, so don't think anything of it.

CPU: Pentium 4 3.40GHz
RAM: 1 GB (I know I need more, I always thought I had 2. I'm using Virtual Memory as a sub for now.)
Video: nVidia 6800 (Works fine for Half-Life 2 and Company of Heroes)

I have plenty of HD space.

Well in this case I don´t understand what you expect. I myself owe a little oder computer. But you just have to deal with it that you cannot run everything on high settings.

It makes your computer crash obviously.

If you really cannot go without all high settings you will have the get a new computer.

lower your settings man, no wonder it's not working.

PR is a very resource heavy game.

I have another question. I have been having random crashes. I'll be playing, decent FPS some occasional "You are having connection problems" but not much, but then - BAM - game freezes and crashes. Even at low settings it does this.

It could be connected to your internet connection. Do you have wireless? It sometimes makes troubles like that.
Or are others using the same internet connection with you (family)? When they use alot of bandwidth it could make you disconnect.

Not my internet, I know for a fact. It's the fact that I'll be driving a techie or something or simply walking and the game randomly crashes to the desktop.
