BF2 simply closing

Post by Skull »

hi,

didnt find anything searching, sry if there is a thread bout that already. from time to time, quite often actually, average every 3 hours of playing, my bf2 simply closes itself. im on my desktop, the process is gone, no error message, not even an error sound. i couldnt find any similarities when its happening.

system specs:
xp 32bit professional
dual core 1.8 e2160
3gb ram
ati hd 4600
creative soundblaster xfi xtreme (might have something to do with that, been bugging me since i have it)

regards,
skull

I'd say it's memory related. Do you have multiple memory sticks?

im not sure if its that what you mean, but i got 1x 2gb stick and 1x 1gb stick
ive thought bout memory leaks, but only got a bad alloc once in like 100 times of crashing, might be even more. furthermore i dont think this can actually be, since i got no other programs running that need any memory more than a few mb and 2.5gb should be enough for bf2, shouldnt it?

there were issues with bf2 and more than 2gb of ram but that should be fixed.

it could be an issue with your memory not clearing after map changes.

i'm not sure of the greater details regarding it though a techie will probably show up to help soon.

If your crashing to desktop but not getting a BSOD, then just consider reinstalling the game and see if it works. I had an issue with XP before I upgraded where it would just crash (close) to the desktop screen. A reinstall fixed it. I'm running 4 gigs or ram, so I don't think it's the more then 2 gigs of ram issue as mentioned above.

the issue was with people who had 4 gigs of ram but i believe it was one of the 1.5 fixes.

I have just had the game start closing at the start of loading a map every few maps. I had heard of many others having the same problem. I was ok until .9 load. Doesn't bother me too much. Just takes a few minutes to get back into game.
I am
XP pro 32 bit
4gigs ram
2.4Quad OC to 2.99
Best line yet...

there was this program called MZ ram booster posted up a while back.

the idea is your run it to clear the old data as BF2 doesn't seem to like letting go.

remeber PR is a resource heavy game and will use more memory than regular BF2.

I had the same problem , but only in High RES. in 1680 X 1050.
vBF and AIX-Mod have the same probs, only in vBF i become an error message
" BF2 Memory Error " it cant be only PR, ist must be a usage prob. of Vista with
4gb ram (netto ) real ram is 2,7 gb, we know Windows is still a " MEMORY KILLER "
and I use GAMEBOOSTER , that's not the best solution but so i can play 2 Rounds
without a CTD. after that i must restart the game.
