Same issue as well. Four gigs of ram and everything.

I usually just disconnect and rejoin before loading starts.

Setting textures to "medium" usually fixes the CTD problem between map loads.
If not, delete your "Battlefield 2" folder in "My Documents". This only deletes your BF2 user profile. Then retrieve your account and apply all video and sound settings again. But keep textures on medium!
