Hand Signals

Post by calstifer »

I have noticed it is hard to communicate with the prompts (default Q) because most of the time you are speaking in a different language (Arabic, Russian, Australian...). So i thought it might be good if you could make international hand signals or symbols that could signify what you are trying to say? Having a Russian screem at you doesnt realy make wonderful communication.

What do you think?

mumble works great. much like real life you can talk to people next you even if they arent in your squad.

hand single are simply not particle in BF2 since each signal costs one of the 9 weapon slots.

Also you need to switch from your rifle to the hand single to do it which makes you very venerable to attack in the time your giving the hand single, where in r/l your still clutching at your weapon.

I agree, mumble is good, but the hand signals could add to the feeling of war in PR, because hand symbols are used in the army constantly. Maybe, however, you could make a seperate command to do 'silent' hand signals? As not to let the enemy be aware of your presance?

Australian is a language? isnt it just english with a drunken accent? just kidding, but i like this idea, if it didnt take up weapon slots. maybe in PR2 we can have air marshal kits. it wouldnt be practical in PR though

So it wouldn't be possible to link an animation with the command, or something like that?

Its possible, but the hand signals are ment to be silent. You cant scream 'GO GO GO' when there is an enemy 2 feet from you without you knowing it.

No its really not possible with the standard BF2 code to trigger an animation with anything on the Q or T roses.

Unless Mosquill can find a way to trigger an animation with hacking the code but you would have to ask him about that.

Dont scream go go go?
tried that one?
Those commands are only in there for just some heads up to other players if your in need of ammo, repairs etc...
Puttin in hand signals is going to be just effective as it is using audio which is really working to well atm..

hand signals, been suggested before. repsponse if i recall was impossible at the moment and certainly impractical as not everyone here knows military hand signals

lag would make this also completely useless, in a laggy environment the audio still plays although a bit jittery. a visual que would be skipped or cut up all together, someone might only be able to see the first section of it. which leaves the hand signal that was originally "Open fire" to "Freeze/stop"

it also doesnt help if no one's looking at you, IRL you have more peripheral vision so you can turn and look when you notice your SL is swinging his arms around.

It would be nice because somthimes when you're approaching enemies it's kinda stupid that you recieve like commands or other radio-things wich are heared from a distance at 10 meters or something .. =\

we may add "throw pebble to take attention" key. :D

on subject: I don't think this would be very useful and life saving. Even if it is possible engine-wise low setting games will suffer so much.

As some of us will know, this is infact a resuggestion.
I urge you to use the search function and the Already Suggested Suggestions thread in this forum to determine if your idea has already been suggested.
