Sniper help?

Post by BloodStone »

Just curious if anyone had any extra tricks or tips for snipers, I'll go ahead and list the ones I know though
-5 min for sniper to respawn (unsure about this one?)
-Anything past 600m you need to compensate for drop
-wait 8 seconds after every movement for the deviation to settle (this means like crawling walking etc.)
-hold the trigger after every shot before reloading
-wait 2.5 secs.-3secs between every shot
-remember to use your breathing
-shoot on the exhale breathing
-horizontal targets facing west or east aim for center mass above the belt line
-under heavy fire and certain death in imminent, hide your sniper kit (hold T + Right click + G= Dropped kit)
-If you are not the squad leader to mark targets and get the distance, use your laser designator to double as a range finder. (numbers at bottom right)
-Use loop holes, 1# mask the sound of your gun and 2# harder to spot you
-shoot and displace after engaging 3-4 targets (varies on position, range, etc.)
-If you have a commander keep him updated on enemy movement. (This means even the one infantry in the middle of kashan that is lost, wheres theres one... well..im sure you can guess)

My Farthest Confirmed Kill- 957m (Kashan Desert)

So yeah I believe this is all or most of what I know, if I come up with anything else I'll make sure it is informed to everyone.

The breathing is just an audio cue that lets you know when the time for deviation to completely settle is trough.

Its just an audio cue that last 8 seconds (or how ever long), dose not effect deviation or shots in anyway.

my longest confirmed is just about 1 kilometer XD

my only biggest hate is you feel naturally like you should hide on the top of the mountian, but its better to crall off onto the side of the mountian, becuase the mountian might keep you out of bullets, but sometimes they can still see you.

Yeah also though sometimes the mountains glitch you and ppl see you floating in mid air from a long way but then when they zoom in your really on the like other side of the mountain laying down

Furthest kill roughly 1.1km on Kashan as US - Was in the buildings just West of North Village overlooking the bunkers, and shot a MEC HAT infantryman standing on the slides leading up to the roof of the south-most bunker in the complex.

Guys, he asked for tips and not for your furthest kills.
I would recommend having always a spotter with you (SL with Officer Kit who will give you targets, confirm the kills and also can mark enemy forces on the map for everyone) and if possible a medic, who will revive you if needed ( this is the most boring job in the squad, but he could also try to spot targets with his binoculars, but i would say he should keep his head down and just go in if needed). Not especially tips for the behavior of the sniper himself, but i think it should be clear, that you dont lone wolf with a valuable kit like this.
Maybe one more tip:
- mark your targets with observe marker, as the soldier stays quiet and dont shout out: "attack this position!", which could be heard by enemys nearby.

If there are air assets, laze stuff for them, tell your team if you see nme assets/squads moving.

Sniper fire from affare, just by itself, isn't that effective if there is a functioning squad on the recieving end of it. Most of them can be revived when they are not in contact with others of your team.
If you can read this the ***** fell off.

never sit on the highest landmark you can find.

Never be within 300m of a spawn point.(the guy you kill will more than likely dedicate thematch to finding you if your close)

Only shooting a moving target that is either moving DIRECTLY towards you or away from you.

If your lucky enough to have a whole squad lined up for you take out in the following order. ( AR , wait 15 secs for smoke keep crosshair on body then fire when smoke is up which should kill the medic , SL , Scopes , Rest)

This.
Also don't ever be a lonely sniper on insurgency, make sure you have either a dedicated spotter covering your back or stay close to friendly forces to support them. If your alone, you will lose that kit sooner or later which will make your team hate you.

Don't one man any kind of vehicle to get to your favorite spot. Either ask for a ride or just walk, the engine sound might alert your enemies anyway. There is nothing more annoying then seeing that lonewolf sniper take the team's only supply truck and abandoning it in the middle of nowhere.

And the most important: be a teamplayer. Your job is to give intel on enemy movements and engage high value targets. If you are just sitting on a hilltop shooting at random guys and not saying a word about them to your team, that makes you the most useless sniper ever.

breathing is when you hit "3" or whatever number you hit to select the rifle and you will hear a breathing sound that lasts roughly 8 seconds? or however long it takes for your sniper rifle to be completely accurate.

as for tips...try to have someone with a grapple to get u to an unreachable location so u dont have to worry about ppl stealing ur sniper kit.

patience = surviving. dont shoot at everything. dont shoot at squads because they can easily smoke + revive the person. if you're gonna kill, then make sure you kill. sniper gunshots are really distinct and rather loud and each shot just gives away ur location.

if u think uve been spotted, uve been spotted.

staying alive the whole round is quite fun. i rather be 1-0 than 10-1.
