Re: Re-introducing training?
Another thing mentioned a few posts ago, even if USA was getting downed by AA the whole time I still had fun constantly.
Heck I would even play training mode even after learning how to play, just because it was fun to fly without the stress of losing assets.

Re: Re-introducing training?
I would like to see the training mode re-introduced again for several reasons:
- Coop and Singleplayer mode are both nice for training how to fight as an infantry-men and how to use most ground assets. Nothing more. You want to train flying? The coop air-vehicles move different compared to the "normal" ones. You cant fly all airplanes. AND it is hard to train if there is an enemy plane/chopper in the air. OK, its just a bot but its still annoying. Instead you have to create a local server. You want to fly a plane on a local server? On which map they instantly spawn? And what when you crash one?
- Training mode is nice, even for experienced players. I and many others played a few rounds of training mode for warming up or when you wait for more activity on the normal servers.
- Where should a new player train flying? I often saw "Beginners"-squads in training mode. But where are they now?
- You only have 15 mins of time. What to do? Start a round and try to get into the fight what atleast needs 10 min? I prefeer(ed) joining a training server and wast some vehicles.
- Changed any settings and want to test them? It was so easy to check them before.
Search the "Training" button & double-click a server.
- Dont want to play the 3rd round of Muttrah in the last 3h as an infantry-men becaue you cant flight that well and dont want to/cant/arent allowed to drive an apc? Join a training server and waste some vehicles, even as an newbish pilot/crewmen.
I had a lot of fun playing the training mode, sometimes you have a nice squad and its way easyier to train flying due to the low spawntimes. Sometimes your team is just bombing your vehicle spawn with JDAMs, destroying the choppers or stealing your loved HUEY. Then your free to leave the server and join any other.
I liked Kashan-Training the way it was.

Re: Re-introducing training?
exactly, personally, i didnt care that i would get bombed at the airfield, cause u respawn after a second. And I have been in alot of training servers where ppl just dont bomb the airfield. So i vote we should bring training back! Oh, and if I seriously wanted to learn how to fly, I would just make a private training server...WHAT A THOUGHT!myles wrote:put traning in it was very fun specilly when you have stressful days of PR

Re: Re-introducing training?
Honestly I never even bother with coop because it in my opinion only does limited good to fight computers since in real games its much harder and unpredictable and honestly just boring and pointless. For flight training your just better off to make a local server no interference and having to worry about random bot AA and the bullcrap and such. The only problem I have with local is there is no way to change the spawn time on the vehicles its still the 15 minutes or such just like real PR maps with no way to adjust which makes it difficult for flying jets especially just waiting for them.
Also training mode was just fail in my opinion I can't recall one good time I had playing the few times I did. It just seemed like a whole noob crowd of players, tking, pilots bombing everythin and just generally dicking around so a lot of the time you couldn't do anything to what you was training for without you getting harassed in some way. Unless that could be changed somehow no thank you.

Re: Re-introducing training?
Its not just that. Th pilots and ground bots are on completely dif levels no matter how low or high the settings are. The MIG in Kashan, for example, it ridiculous. I have seen it take out 2 apaches, 2 f16's, and an 10 on a single run. Not to mention they dont need a laze for their pocket jdam to hit a tank dead on.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:turn your bot difficulty down?
Its not just the turning radius of the mig, its the fact that the only way to kill it is by trying to gun it down while its killing your wingman, OR, go out of bounds and take the ******* with you.

Re: Re-introducing training?
Thing is in their shiny SP jets they can out-turn any MP jet with ease even with diff set at 10%.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:turn your bot difficulty down?
To be honest, I enjoyed being teamkilled or baseraped by humans much more(sure di**heads) than being bombed by bots. I even happened to be baseraped a few times by bots on coop servers when AI team capped bunkers. (when it's 3 vs 32 it's really hard to maintain at east one CP) They just seem to get an order to attack an opposing team's base (talking about kashan).
That's a flaw. Back on training servers when you get baseraped you could kill/votekick/ban/at least flame that guy(or just carry on as he just dropped both of his bombs so he won't be back in at least 3 minutes). Now when a bot in a-10 flies over your head dropping 6 bombs and THEN after you respawn does the same all you can think of is alt-f4.
I used to use training servers for flying practice. You didn't have to care about deaths 'cause the respawn was instant. Same for all the assets. They were spawned back in no-time. Furthermore once you've mastered taking off and (maybe) landing you could do a little target practice. Since almost all the vehicles people(MEC side) were using were Tunguskas it really required either skill or cooperation (people actually were lasing things!). All in all it pretty much simulated how CAS is done in PR. And when you weren't doing it how it was supposed to you were shot down in a few seconds.
Now all i see at coop servers are Coop a-10s(or frogfoots in that matter) dumbbombing bots (from an altitude of 150) by the bunkers or in their base. If that is supposed to help anyone acquire any skill to actually feel any confident during a real game then it just doesn't work. It's more of a spamfest than it was back in 0.87. I do admire the work to get Coop mode working, I just dislike the mode itself and the fact it replaced the training. At least at the current shape.

can't we just adda training map in the coop map list
that you can make a server without bots, and set the server to that map.

Could we consider bringing back training mode from the dead? The coop settings are messed up, jets are turning way too hard, just is wrong.
And to be honest, most of the players are switching sides and just bomb the main over and over again.
I do believe training was a better way to practice pretty much everything.
Bring back training mode especially for Helo's please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Re-introducing training?
I think you totally miss the point. The co-op was, as far as I know, aimed(and advertised) to REPLACE training mode, to offer a place where you could train your skills just without the so-much-hated by the Devs: baseraping, teambombing, teamkilling, team-whatever. Now, what we've got is a place where you learn how to exterminate bots, carpet bomb, base rape (ironically...) and 1-man attack choppers (since bots in AAs tend to ignore a pilotless attack chopper...[R-DEV]ballard_44 wrote:I'll make sure to give the bots some good lube in the next patch, so your butts don't hurt so badly![]()
Edit: yup, whining about kashan, other maps are mostly fine and sure are good for some training.
