I could also swear that i heard some dev. say that they want an increase spawn time.......hint hint, there would be enough time to kill everyone and cap the base[R-DEV wrote: JS.Fortnight.A]Also noting to that, the enemy forces would be oblivious to the fact anyone has died in the first place (at their base, unless they saw the body or the actual kill), meaning that the operative could continue his mission undetected, until of course after 'x' amount of time the deceased respawn (none of that, I just killed the guy and whoop there hes again (respawned) and now he mows me down, because he saw where I was....).![]()

The only thing i dont like is that atleat in dc(since i havenot played vanilla bf in about a year) is that you can run in a base and after 4 seconds the flag is grey. Allowing you to fight the whole battle single handedly.
I reckon about 10 seconds to grey it is ...ok.
I find its great in Forgotten hope as most of the time you will die before its captured if your on your own so your forced to try to cap with atleast 2 people so that theres actualy someone alive on your team long enough for the for the flag to turn grey.
Hell when a flag turns grey you acualy panic one wrong move means your dead and you have cost your team a flag which is not easy to get back.
Now THAT is good fun.

R.E 3rd person views (Ive read as many as I could, sorry if Im repeating anything prev said)
Project Reality is a Reality Mod and I strongly hope that there will be no 3rd person views at all.
Take a Tank for example. There should be a 'Commanders' view. The view for the commander should be the best one but made even better by taking the risk and flipping the lid to give you a 360 view around the tank, obviously the 360 view comes at a price, the fact you can be shot at. There should also be a 'Gunners' view. This view should be similar to the gunner view in Operation Fash Point, very small but with a slight zoom function. A 'Drivers' view should also be available, again restricted but you could get a better view by flipping the lid and getting a 180 field of vision around the front of the vehicle.
Having 3 seating positions for a tank in game would be difficult, you cant always rely on other players being about to help you drive the tank. So some sort of combination of all 3 should be employed but still no 3rd person views around the tank, unless the player has to expose himself to get such views i.e if you want to see what a foot soldier planted behind your tank, you have to get out or flip the lid and in so doing so expose your self!
Aircraft should also have fixed cockpit view for the Pilot. This would help even up the fight with a ground unit, perhpas there could be a small screen added to show the view of the cannons or rocket pods?
Realism is the aim of Project Reality and 3rd person views are for the kiddies!!

Not a "blob" but some HEAT rounds are made so that they actually melt through the hull, and blast fragments of molten metal throughout the interior of the vehicle to take out the crew.. which is debatebly a more effective way of taking out vehicles. If it can penetrate the armour. Naturally, such rounds can no penetrate the thickest armour, which is why you have Armour Piercing rounds with hard, solid penetrators.

With a lot of modern tanks using more than one thermal sight and multiple periscopes 360 degree viewing can be obtained by the commander while buttoned up. Even though I'd think that view would be 360 degrees of mostly horizontal viewing. To see aerial threats or ones on mid to highrise buildings another approach would likely be needed. But if they managed to get in an area where people from highrises are attacking there's little they can do except hope, infantry, light armor with higher elevation weapons or aircraft can deal with those individuals.

Well, on the Abrams series, the commander can fire his M2 from under armor with a maximum elevation / depression of +65/-10 degrees and has a 3x sight attached to it, so the commander should have some vertical visibility, just without any peripheral visibility.Tacamo wrote:With a lot of modern tanks using more than one thermal sight and multiple periscopes 360 degree viewing can be obtained by the commander while buttoned up. The commander's independent viewer on the Bradley-A3 can traverse 360 degrees and elevate / depress +60/-22 degrees, the full traverse / elevation of the vehicle's weapons systems.

Maybe simply make is so that while buttoned up, he has a slightly restricted box-view (like the view from the drivers position of the BF42 Wespe) that can rotate 360 degrees and attain some elevation.. but at the same time, the rotation and elevation movements should be much slower than if he popped his head out and looked around.. so, while buttoned up, the Commander still maintains a good view, with a zoom feature, but slow-moving and low peripheral vision.. not quite as good as unbuttoning and taking a normal look, atleast to see your immediate surroundings.

That sounds good. A slow rotating small viewport that can rotate 360 (the periscopes) and maybe you could switch to the thermal view sight which has the above mentioned capabilities.
Adding onto the discusion about tank rounds and such:
If you can code tank shells to be part of the material penetration, and you give tanks interiors, this can happen:
HEAT shell to weak point of tank does...80% damage to the tank when it passes through it, but when it reaches the inside of the tank, it explodes and kills everycrew member (3 for fully loaded if we are going by dcr)
SABOT (or ADFPS or whatever it is) should do whatever it would realistically do the crew and tank, and should penetrate in the right spots, etc. (i dont know as well how a sabot round affects a tank, would it make it explode?)
on the note of 'would it make it explode' how about the tank makes a small boom when it dies, but if (material penetration) a round goes through the tank and lands in the magic little ammo cache BAM tank makes large boom
