Transport Helicopter Door Guns
Quick suggestion, might be hardcoded not sure though.
Would it be possible for the pilot of a helicopter to be able to "lock" the door guns by pressing the left mouse button so that the people using them could not shoot? Would stop the spamming of the guns. When the pilot is getting close to the drop zone or thinks the door guns should be used he could unlock the guns so they could shoot.

Re: Transport Helicopter Door Guns
In real life, the door gunners aren't controlled by the pilots. I'm sure the crew chief in charge of the passengers etc. could give the order, but it would just be impractical for a pilot to be able to do this.
Its not necessary when you can politely ask the door gunner to stop shooting.

Its a bit hard to ask for someone to stop shooting when your flying. Just might make it a bit easier for pilots

Re: Transport Helicopter Door Guns
well pilots can forget to ulock them and some could even lock them up for good
and i also dodnt see a reason to lock them when all you have to do is say stop shooting

someone is shooting the helo guns?....either they are dicks who wil find a method to piss people off no matter what, or they are actually shooting at enemy targets to suppress them and therefore increase the liklihood of teh chopper surviving.

Re: Transport Helicopter Door Guns
IRL in the end the Pilot is in command of the Aircraft, so its not unrealistic for the pilot to be able to make the gunners cease fire.
But this sounds very hard coded, and its not too practical, you can always just tell the gunners not to fire unless they see a target.

In real life, the Door gunners aren't 12.dtacs wrote:In real life, the door gunners aren't controlled by the pilots.
Also, as thermis mentioned, its the PIC's ship. He says what goes and what doesn't.

Re: Transport Helicopter Door Guns
better idea - replase MGs on all choppers!
12.7 MG on Mi8/17 looks unrealistic(In RL uses PKM or PKT)
On china Z-8 i never see MG on board!
I think blackhawks can be no have MGs on big maps like Kashan etc.On ramiel i think its possible!

Re: Transport Helicopter Door Guns
replace or remove?
I do find 12.7 MG very hard to use on choppers and the Gatling gun is easier to use

I usually don't mind. TBH, It's probably from all the 1337 blackhawk missions in movies and COD.
Otherwise, I just deal with it.

Not everyone finds it easy to tell people to stop shooting the door guns, as not everyone uses mumble/has a mic (me)

would be nice to have a "reloading" button next to "bail out" in vehicles. maybe a "cease fire" button could fit in there as well.

How about just fixing the minigun spool bug from the blackhawks? People keep spooling it thinking they can fire faster if they do it and every time i tell them that the weapon is actually making all the effects and noise a normal firing minigun would do, they dont believe me.

Well it isnt firing on the gunners side. I would do this on vanilla and it would totally work, but now I guess it's just fires.
Yeah, that needs a partial or hopefully a complete fix.

Gunners shouldn't have to wait to ask the pilot to unlock their gun before shooting at threats.
It's an impractical solution to what's only really a problem if you're sensitive about it.

There's a simple solution. Land on spot. Tell the guy to leave your chopper and let him walk. He will never do this BS again, I promise!

Re: Transport Helicopter Door Guns
yeah the point about what the gunner sees is rather important, afaik when the m240 model is done it'll get added to the Blackhawk, maybe the USI m240 would suffice for now, I'm not sure.

Re: Transport Helicopter Door Guns
Think about it you flying kinda fast on a black hawk with a minigun so its easy to hit your target and th gun is locked while your coming up to it. you have to type into chat to unlock them and then shoot while you have gone past it
