There are som others. But they are abit different, but they all go under the same "category"

Suggestion

The commo rose for People who might have smashed their Microphone or just is afraid to talk, should be for things we need to know quickly.

Such as: When you want to stop, it should be possible to yell STOP!

And i dont feel thank you is a critical notion when your getting shot at, i mean, sure i just got revived, but gratitude aint your first thought, nor is being polite in a war situation.

How i see it, is you should have the following Commo rose abilities for the SM infantry:

Center CONTACT. Should be able to left click, then have 4 possibilities.

North, South East and West. Then you can say by left clicking Contact!

"Contact"

Then left clicking North!

"North"

Then left clicking West!

"West"

Which becomes "CONTACT NORTH WEST!"

To leave the whole thing just right click.

Also something that bothers me, is that when you do come under fire, there should be ways for someone without voip to say, cover me. Or Moving, or FIRE!

These things are essential critical fast information, that players has to type if they dont have a mic. But usually they dont. they just play.

So to promote teamwork, even without mumble, and microphone, it might encurage alot more communication. Since you can type the needless things, such as Need transport
Etc. Even just saying stop would suffice.

But i really belive the Commo rose system needs a revamp. To be more "newb"/"No mic" friendly. Aswell as critical info to blue mob friendly.

I dont think we need a commorose, we have mics.

Yes, but there are so many people with no mics. I played with two guys today, with no mics.

And if your playing with people that aint on mumble, and their blue. Instead of using something that takes time to explain, why not just have the speed, and the edge.

It would be pretty cool if there were a physical compass on the SM CM for contacts.

wouldnt those direction buttons replace all the useful stuff we hav now? "ammo/medic" etc etc

As bad as it sounds, I tend not to let people in my squad if they don't have mics, they don't cost alot, and the benefit of being able to bring up the commorose and say which direction the enemy fire is coming from would be a pain in the ***, too much work for too little gain, that and you would most likely be dead before you can tell everyone which direction.

This would be extremely helpful for a two types of players:
Having mic issues.
Other language/heavy accent.

Also:
If it behaves like using VOIP/commo rose for ammo or medic requests (where the person talking or requesting blinks on the map) it would make it easier for an SL to see who is spotting and they can figure out NW from blinking guy faster than clicking on the person to figure out where they are.

Unless you want them spotted so everyone can fire at once instead of giving away your squads position from a lone person firing who may not be in view of all squad members.

It's a suggestion to make things easier, complimentary to existing means of communication.

If someones willing to do it then there doesn't seem to be any downsides. I like the clock-face style selection which would allow blue communication in non mumble servers.

Well that seems more complicated than mine. But it does the same job i guess.

Really the point i had was that drop down Squared menu like kit selection.

To avoid extra coding and voice over sounds, just have CONTACT NORTH WEST EAST SOUTH.

That way you can combine them to make the contact more detailed IE:

When i have a contact with a mic, i usually say.

CONTACT, North east By East.

So they can replicate that. in that menu.

But i love your pics Mcluv!

Like when the SL has the radio kit, he can give like draw distance and all that.

EDIT: if being silent is so important, then make no sound at all, just make the text appear in the squad chat or smt. Is that hard to code?

Ive heard recording the voices is hard. But the coding isnt to hard.

I've found that when reporting contacts, simplicity is best. Rather than having to make several different combination options (distance, adding vectors, etc...) like with the current SL radio function, simply having a quick "contact"->"direction" is best for most intents and purposes.

For that same reason, typing is in all honestly faster for reporting advanced contact details than a series of complex and coordinated comma-rose presses.

I like it... but unless there is a way to only have text to local people... I see a bunch of spam going on and people not knowing which contact is pertinent to them...

That and we'd need new VO... and then only for the languages of the player would it be understood.
