[PROBLEM SOLVED]Very comon problem , driving me crazy.

Post by Remy.Soldier »

Dear Project Reality Fans.

Remy speeking here with in véry important question. Im sure there will be more posts, but those are all to complicated for me. I just want (a) clear awnser(s).

THE PROBLEM

All you guys know that there is a huge lagg in BF2PR caus' of the RAM or something. Well, my normal bf2 , is easy to run high. (i will post pc specs down) But this not, probably because of all those objects. Im running on medium with textures high, but it doesnt matter if I use low,med or high, it still has an anoying lag. Maybe of the FPS or something, I just want to stop it, and still play with nice character models. Following pc specs:

PC SPECS

------------------
System Information
------------------
Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.vistasp1_gdr.080917-1612)
System Manufacturer: Compaq-Presario
System Model: NM789AA-ABH CQ5012NL
BIOS: BIOS Date: 02/03/09 15:24:58 Ver: 5.08
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz
Memory: 2814MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 10

Display Devices
---------------
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9100
Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Chip type: GeForce 9100

As you can see , it should easly run it... RAM is around 3GB.

Please help me, Im getting realy pissed off,

THANKS GUYS!!!

Remy

EDIT:

I solved the problem , im using a program now thats called ''Game Booster'' And now i can run the game full high THANKS TO [R-CON]Rudd , AND!!! if you put dynamic shadows to low or just off, the lag will dissapear at all, and that thanks to snooggums

THANKS Guys..

PR system requirements are much higher than of original bf due to larger view distance, "heavier" models and textures.
Your rig is simply weak to run PR on decent settings.

Try lowering view distance, it has big impact on FPS.

Game Booster | Fast Game Accelerator | Free Accelerator

I recommend this also, seems to work well for vista users.

Your video 'card' is actually onboard graphics which are not really suited for the kind of graphics that PR has worked towards over time. Your motherboard does have a PCI Express x16 slot that you could put a video card into, and even a relatively inexpensive card like a GTS 250 or ATI 5750 would show a huge improvement (not only running smoother but much higher FPS) over your current rig in PR.

I'm speculating here, but depending on the map it appears that PR works your system at least 5 times harder than BF2 ever will in processing power between the video and CPU plus as you noted above uses a lot of RAM, so yeah BF2 will run fine on your setup while PR chokes it. Adding a video card will take a lot of strain that the onboard is currently putting on your CPU and system RAM as well as adding more video specific processing power.

Yup, you will need a dedicated GPU if you want to play, I also recommend getting another GB of RAM.

It does simple tasks that you can do yourself. Only really worth it if you struggle performance-wise, even then its not going to do much if your hardware simply cannot take the load.

yeah its not a miracle program, it just turns off a few windows processes that you don't really need while your gaming, an extra 30mb or so of RAM isn't to be sneezed at when you are trying to squeeze every little bit of performance out of an older rig.

Your computer build looks about just like mine. I actually have the same 9100 card but run PR on all low with no AA, no texture filtering, no dynamic anything. Lowest Resolution too (1024 x 768 ). The only thing that should be higher than the lowest possible setting is the viewing distance at 100%.

Expect to get a steady fps of maybe 25 fps with minor dips in the fps. As everyone else says, if you want to see the game pretty, you're going to need a dedicated card and probably more ram.

Yea i know what im getting myself this card:

Asus ENGTS250 or known as Asus GTS250

Well, i heard alot of people say 3gb is enough.

But thanks, and im trying that game booster out...

I run a GTS 250 and you should have no problem running on high settings for everything but dynamic shadows and AA at the same time (I leave shadows off as I prefer AA) and you should get around 30FPS on maps like Fallujah or Gaza and 65+ on Kashan. Shadows plus AA should lower that about 15-20 FPS.

I'd also recommend leaving textures at medium (no FPS difference I've found) since that increases my load time by about double for some reason, although I haven't tried the most recent video drivers.

I'm running a Intel Q8400 @ 2.66Ghz, 3 Gbs of RAM, and a EVGA 1Gb GTS 250. I can get a steady 60fps at all high settings on very forested maps like Mestia, but I often get memory errors. Mind you that 3Gb of RAM is 2x1+1x1. And the 1Gb chip has a 800Mhz max clock, as opposed to the OCZ Gold RAM which goes far over 1000Mhz, the crappier RAM has authority and my ram is clocked at 800Mhz. So slow RAM.

Thats the only thing i want acctualy high is textures i got it, no problems i got evrything medium exept textures and texture filtring and vissbile 100%

while other things might look prettier the viewing distance is probably the most important thing.

in my older setup i had the viewing distance at maybe 80% and often got killed by tanks etc which i just could not see. and occasionally when i was gunner in a tank (i mostly play infantry) the driver was yelling at me something like "shoot the tank straight ahead, shoot the tank!" and i was just think what tank there is none!? :/ and then we got blown up :D

so viewing distance should be the most important thing for a good gameplay

I have found that Gamebooster really super useful. It releases +150mb RAM for me. I'd say that's alot.
