Re: Will PR Live On?
PR:BF2 will die out when something better comes along to take its exact place, and I don't foresee that happening soon (maybe not until PR2). Look at the Desert Combat mod for BF1942. During the time it was popular, it had far more players than PR, yet its popularity waned extremely fast once BF2 came out. Because DC was relatively arcade-ish, BF2 was effectively able to replace it, since for many players, it was a more graphically-updated version of DC gameplay. But with PR, there hasn't been a game - or mod, for that matter - released that has been able to offer the same gameplay mechanics of realistic, PVP, combined arms warfare. ArmA is the closest thing, but because of a weaker multiplayer community and PvP element, it doesn't have a chance of trumping PR:BF2 (unless, ironically, PR:ARMA does this).

Well from my point of view I can already see Regular PR slowing down. I use to see 10+ servers 24/7 with over 60 people at least 3 months ago. Now I see maybe 4-5. It seems to me at least that less are playing and less are online and then you add PR:ARMA2 and PR:V then yeah... I COULD possibly see a problem, But I think we all know our roots and will always continue playing PR:Regular.

The real question is if PR:BF2 will still be here after PR2 comes out.

Thats just because it always peeks around a new release. Then it slowly goes down hill untill the next patch is released. I wouldent worry too much about that.GrimSoldier wrote:Well from my point of view I can already see Regular PR slowing down. I use to see 10+ servers 24/7 with over 60 people at least 3 months ago. We just discussed this topic a few weeks ago: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f10-pr-bf2-general-discussion/82179-will-pr-bf2-die-when-pr-arma-2-released.html
Theres been no confirmation as to whether or not PRV will be separate from regular PR.Ford_Jam wrote:We're going to be divided over three games.

I personally has no interest of PR vietnam no offense to the creators, but I have no interest in that era. What will happen is that PR:BF2 will be the biggest chub in average then the two others come behind, when it comes to PR:ARMA2 will new players be a big part of the player base I would guess.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Part of the issue is that it is now summer, a lot of people are out having a good time in the sun. When it's cold again everyone will be back indoors on BF2

PR is dying -- we are but the parasitic wasp larvae feeding on PR's succulent innards. As we develop and change, we will move on to new hosts, laying our own young to carry on our legacy.
HAH!
PR:BF2 will be around for quite some time, I'm sure. I for one cannot currently run ARMA2, so I will continue playing PR:Vanilla until the wheels fall off.

As people are still playing BF1942:FH .. by deduction i'd say PR has a long long future...Quikli wrote:Will PR Live On?.

Re: Will PR Live On?
Would that be a bad thing? Arma2 is a better plattform for this kind of game. Missing your flight will mean a 30 min walk and not, oh well walking 1200m will just take me 5 min.
Also if anything it might grow bigger as there is nothing out there to really replace PR at the moment. In BF2 it was an good mod for an arcady game. In the case of arma2 it might give the engine the game it is lacking atm. Also who says no new players will join again eva?
Look at game classics like xcom: Ufo enemy unkown. Its still being played and you can still buy it on steam.
