I don't think balance is any issue. I'd have nothing against this, only thing is that it might not be needed, at least not on all maps. But ya, why not.

The guns aren't used much at all anyways, this seems quite low priority.

i've never seen main base guns used at all 0.9 they don't really need to be used (due to rings of death surrounding main bases). Although what would be cool is to have animated (not real AI) manning these wepons to simulate the dome of death/getting shot at while attacking the base.

Lol, thats weird that they died you can actually get right inside the base with the DoD still there.
But yeah as everyone else is saying its a pretty low priority thing since not many people would think about jumping on the Nests that are there provided for protection ;)
