You know, the one that pops up on your desktop some time after you click the icon for it?
That one?
Yeah, I get a "pr.exe has stopped working" whenever I get to that point in playing the game (Or not playing the game).
I originally thought that hey, my first install from the torrents is just fucked and I need to just spend all night again downloading these things.
So I did just that and nope: Didn't solve a damn thing.
I am madly in anger in frustration at my failed attempts to play an online war sim (Since ARMA II Only gives me 1 frame a second on this machine).
So hey, now what? What could I possibly do to making this fucking game work?
ALSO: While you're at it, could someone please upload a copy of "pnkbstra.exe" somewhere? Since PB_Setup just isn't fucking working for me and installing it itself? I kinda need it, because I can't fucking play on any BF2 servers because of not having the shit and I'm Fucking Pissed Off at this point with all of this and my inability to get the ECP Mod to work for Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis.

No no you don't get it: That's not working.gahsahui1995 wrote:PunkBuster Online Countermeasures Punkbuster ^^
It's not installing pnkbstra.exe into my computer.
The PB set up is not installing pnkbstra.exe into my computer.
There is a significant absence of pnkbstra.exe on my hard drive and even after downloading pb_setup numerous times my problem of not having pnkbstra on my hard drive is not being corrected.
I do not have pnkbstra.exe on my computer even though I have taken all the measures needed to do so and I am now requesting that someone uploads their copy of pnkbstra.exe onto a file sharing service so that I may correct what faulty software is not correcting and get pnkbstra.exe into my BF2 directory.
But that's kind of besides the fucking point because PR.exe stops working at the first loading screen and crashes on me.

Three things:
1) I realize you're frustrated but try having a bit of civility and humble tone when asking for help. Less use of profanity would be a good start. Given, I agree that Gahsahui's reply was utterly useless, but then again he might have a language barrier, and he was seemingly born in 1995, so he's quite a young one.
2) To install or change individual punkbuster components, try PBSVC, which can be downloaded here:
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe
3) So BF2 does not crash, but PR does crash on startup? What patch is your BF2 on? If you could please detail the following:
What exact order was bf2, patches & pr installed? Once we know this, we can troubleshoot if it's a dodgy install or if perhaps something on your system is causing an issue.

That fixed my first punkbuster problem, but now I have a new one. More on that in a minute.Psyrus wrote:Three things:

This is what I did with BF2:
1) I downloaded it
2) I downloaded the 41 patch
3) I downloaded the 50 patch
4) I installed the 41 patch, then the 50 patch
5) I then installed part 1 and then part 2 of the project reality mod.
Thats pretty much it. There wasn't an uninstall so I just deleted the first PR and installed the new PR.
As for my new punkbuster problem, I can join one server. If I want to leave the current server and then go to a new one, I must restart my computer, then go to the server I wanted to after I logged back in. If I lose my connection to the server or get autokicked for high ping then I am fucked and must restart my computer because for some reason: it keeps kicking me and giving me "disallowed program / driver" as the cause.
EDIT: Actually the restart trick isn't working and now I'm just kicked regardless.

Actually, I think I fixed the "disallowed program / driver" bit. I added it to steam and PB threw a fucking bitchfit about it but whatever, I don't need a steam overlay when playing BF2 / PR.
Still haven't figured out what the hell is going on though, with pr.exe crashing the second it starts up.

Re: Project reality crashes at the first loading screen
try running in a window to get the error message.
right click the pr icon and put this in the shortcut target
"C:\...\...\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +fullscreen 0
