New monitor
So i Just got a Samsung 1920x1080 DVI monitor. I used to have a 1440x900 VGA monitor and that worked and all. So I did nothing more than just change the two montiors and now PR wont start. I uninstalled and Reinstalled PR and it starts up, Just says the "project reality"...goes black... then back to desktop...help?

Re: New monitor
Same issue. I have XP but I upgraded my monitor and now it goes to the black screen as if it's loading then crashes to desktop. No warning or anything. Tried changing the display settings to no avail.

Re: New monitor
It is a resolution//refresh rate out of bounds error, it would seem.
Change your PR shortcut to have "+fullscreen 0" at the end. This will show the crash error, which should be along the lines xres-x-yres @ xyHz in a config file.
Easiest way that I know of would be to remove your \My Documents\Battlefield 2 folder and then start up standard BF2, and then retrieve your account. This should clear all the settings.

Re: New monitor
After remembering how to find out what the windows errors are "+ fullscreen 0" this is what it stated.
The monitor I have now is capable of only of 60 hertz. Looks like it is trying to run the old settings?

Re: New monitor
Figured it out. Went to My documents, battlefield 2, profiles, default and removed the video file. It removed the old settings and now it boots! Hope this situation can help you THEICEMAN.
spoke too soon. Now it crashes after hitting enter to log in...
UPDATE: Followed PSYRUS's recomendation and it works! Thanks!

Try my recommendation above. You'll lose your screenshots/saved demos/control settings, but it does sort out a myriad of issues.B.Pummer wrote:Figured it out. Why do something today, when you can not do it tomorrow

Re: New monitor
Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001
