Jabal - Reducing the dome of death

At the moment, it is impossible for the MEC APC's to make their way to east beach, or west beach for that matter, by the sea route.



Later on in the game, our APC's had no chance of moving into East Beach without going through that little village to the north of it. The US had TOW's, HAT's and all sorts of bad things that halted the APC's progress, specifically the BMP's. (that SS is just a reference for the DoD I'm proposing)

If they at ALL went down and into the ocean, they would be killed due to the gigantic dome of death.

My suggestion: Reduce the DoD on the Essex by about 50 meters (to the pink line indicated), ensuring that the APC's have an alternate attack route to move into East Beach.

And I don't want to hear 'Well the INF should have been pushing up and eliminating AT assets blah blah blah'. The simple fact here is that the DoD is ridiculously huge. Plus I'm sure the BMP could actually shoot at the carrier if it made the effort.

if the DoD was moved, which I would like, the carrier would also have to be moved SW closer to teh corner of the map

though jabal 2 will sort this anyway

I find that the shield is way to large and allows US LAVs to exploit it and sit behind the shield at the edge of viewdistance and fire with no threat against them. The shield should be moved just surrounding the carrier to protect against random AA shots but not in the water 200m away from land, this just gives the US a safe area where thy can never be shot at.

Rudd they can already sit at the shore and shoot down exiting choppers, so I don't see the oint you're trying to make with that statement, allowing the MEC apcs to get in the water would give them more ways to flank the US team, and if 1 wants to sit out their waiting for choppers a single LAV can deal with him I'm sure or a HAT.

BTW you can get into the hills to the east by driving trhough H3 and onto the east side of the map.

the point is by the time a chopper arrives at the shore its at cruising speed, as its just leaving the carrier its generally more vulnerable, and making it easier to camp the carrier isn't gameplay or realism orientated as 1) you cant fight the americans if they can't get off their carrier, and 2) the carrier would be safely out of harms way IRL.

Which is why I said the DoD could be smaller, but it would mean Moving the carrier SW....

That is something I have never quite understood, the carrier is very close to the shore with no real need for it to be that far away from the edge of the map. Moving it back into the A8 square and moving the DoD with it would go a long way to rectifying this issue imo.

That would still cause this 'camping' that Rudd is talking about (although I've never seen a chopper get shot down by an APC/other on leaving the carrier unless its going to East/West in which the MEC are attacking) and I've also never seen the carrier get attacked by APC's at all, but they could if they wanted to...but they can't considering how many servers have a no-attacking the uncap rule.
I know you can go up into the hills behind (shame more of that area isn't used) but it still doesn't fix this problem, the BTR/BMP/BRDM's are all amphibious so they should have the option to use this to their advantage.

Im confused dtacs you seem to be agreeing with my post, then disagreeing and then eventually proving my point :s

By moving the carrier back to the A8 position you help one problem by allowing helicopters the time to get up speed before they hit the land and potential hostile AA positions and then by bringing the DoD back by the same distance as you move the carrier you allow the MEC APCs the chance to get into the water and move across the map via your suggested route.

That was my point, maybe I didn't explain it properly.

Either way, Jabal 2 will fix these issues anyway so really it is something of a moot point.

Also, I doubt BTR60's were meant to swim in deep-water coasts for long distances and time. For a river it would be right, but a lake or even the sea? Just my 2 cents anyway, I'm not aware if they can perfom these feats by standards.

You can swim beach to beach, just have to go out of bounds for a little while.

The LAV camping is more annoying when they just sit in the shield and are not even BVR firing...

Trouble accesing East Beach? Go to H4, there should be a spot there where you can go up to the hill, drive down to H6 using that same hill/mountain and problem is solved.

That isn't my point. What I'm saying is give more angles of attack, all the APCs including the Gaskin for MEC on Jabal are amphibious, and excluding the river majority of that ability is unused.

A common problem is also occurs when some players who don't know about it mistakenly drive down the hill near dam into the water, can't get out, die due to the DOD, and the APC is abandoned.

That great big shield around the Jabal carrier also needs to be reduced. (that stops fire from going in, but not out)
Sure it stops AA missles, but LAV's can sit inside it and spam West Beach while the defenders can do nothing except soil their pants.

It's just not cricket
