Help Adjusting Audio

Post by SgtGamble51 »

Downloaded PR the other day and through the second match i noticed i dont hear a single person talking.. check my audio settings and the voip section is all turned off at 0%. I put raise them and check the enable box and clicl apply showing it saves. Play the next match and i still cant hear anyone. I check the settings and once again they are all at 0. the settings wont stay...any help?

Do you click "APPLY" on the left side after you change the settings?

Change the audio to either "software" or "hardware" in the game menu.
Might need to exit the game and check the Windows settings for the "playback" and "recording devices". I had to set everything to 16bit/48khz (from 16/44khz default).

Have you already tried to manually change the lines in "myDocuments(or whatever it's called in english)\Battlefield2\profile\0001\audio.con" ?

You can edit it with notepad, I already used that for the video.con.
AudioSettings.setVoipEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipPlaybackVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureVolume 1
AudioSettings.setVoipCaptureThreshold 0.1
AudioSettings.setVoipBoostEnabled 1
AudioSettings.setVoipUsePushToTalk 1
AudioSettings.setProvider "software"
AudioSettings.setSoundQuality "High"
AudioSettings.setEffectsVolume 0.497194
AudioSettings.setMusicVolume 0.33
AudioSettings.setHelpVoiceVolume 1
AudioSettings.setEnglishOnlyVoices 0
AudioSettings.setEnableEAX 1
First six lines are what the values have to be for VOIP to works (at least it works for me), try to copy/paste in your own file.
Many thanks to everyone involved in the making of the best videogaming experience ever !

as a thought are you running PR in administrator mode, this allows it to edit the config files of the game (newer versions of windows throws a hissy fit if you don't ask it's permission to do somthing)

GO TO: configuration screen, Audio controls(sonemthing like this) and put all your settings (volume, speech etc) either low, medium or basic. It worked for me. Or try to find simulair settings in windows. (advanced settings)
It doesnt have anything to do with BF2 but there is something wrong with your audio settings. I had the same, i checked went ingame, and still i couldnt hear a thing.
I checked everything on basic or medium and all problems flew away.

If you have a realtek audio system go to start > run, type in dxdiag. then go to the sound tab and there should be an option about audio acceleration. change that to basic and it should work.
