SAW= Squad Automatic Weapon, ( also known as the MINIMI) used by the US forces, and Canadians. It's their LMG. MG3, PKM etc are just LMG's (Light machine guns) and are not referred to as "SAW's"

This. Technically you're right in saying that SAW can refer to all LMG's Trooper, but its mainly attached to the US M249.
