Simple, give back the wrench and you can pick them back up.

What hes suggesting though is by picking the mine up it goes bac into your inventory, unlie merely disarming it.Tim270 wrote:Simple, give back the wrench and you can pick them back up.

Re: Ability to pickup placed mines with 'G'
strange, I wasn't aware the taliban or insurgents had EOD experts
if the things were so easy to diffuse and more I think our problems in Afghanistan would be much less
and all because a dude is capable of burying a bomb and making sure the mobile phone aerial is above the ground without blowing himself up does not necessarily mean he is the one that made the bomb, nor does he know how to disarm it.

Re: Ability to pickup placed mines with 'G'
Well the suggestion does bring some merit. I myself have suggested this in the dev forums.
It does bring some things to the table, such as picking up old claymores, nade traps etc. I am not sure it should be possible for IED's and larger explosives, but anti infantry explosives which are fairly easy to setup and disarm should imo be able to refill your inventory.
Second question is if it is even possible. The current rope ingame works different than explosives, but in bf2142 you were able to pick up claymores and similar. Question is if they changed the engine, or if it poses no problem and it has just been me who has heard this and it in reality is just gosip.

Perhaps something like C4, where you have the Mine itself, which would function as it does now, but also "Hands" on right-click which disassemble the mine and pick it back up.

sounds like a useful idea and will prob be more useful than exploited/annoying

Good Idea.
I'd like this to work for all mines, but if that's too unrealistic then it should definitely work for anything remote detonated, and maybe Nade Traps.

I think he is referring to the fragility of the mine. It is an explosive after all, but according to this the operating pressure is 150kg+ so I bet its pretty solid and easy to remove.Colonelcool125 wrote:If you know where you put it, I'm fairly confident you could pick it back up.
Also, the wrench used to do this.

Me no likey....
IRL the only person picking up live ord. is EOD for Coalition forces...
as for the MEC, PLA etc... IDK how thy work but I would assume a REAL army would do the same...
now for insurgents or Tal. maybe one would be stupid enough to mess with live ord. but as said b4 it is extremely sensitive.
If YOU placed it maybe it would be possible to pick it up but again very sensitive and the chances of it exploding are pretty good if you do not know what you are doing.
I know at mountain warfare training they would not let us pick up discarded ammo bins or brass in fear of something explosive (gun powder or live cartridges) still being in there and hurting us... imagine IRL in a combat situation....

Re: Ability to pickup placed mines with 'G'
I support this idea completely.
If you are smart enough to arm an AT mine or set a grenade trap you are smart enough to disarm them, it's almost the exact same steps in reverse. Same goes for the pipe bomb, it's just wires from a cellphone to a detonator.
Maybe not for the arty IED though.. I wouldn't want to touch that in the first place, even without a cellphone attached.

In one of the vBF2 patches, they introduced the ability to pick up Claymores with the "G" Key, but I believe they reverted this later.

Judging by this video, insurgents dont know how to disarm their own mines/IED's

Remote IEDs don't need disarming though, they won't go off unless you press send the detonation command.

Why just the Taliban and insurgents? Have everyone be able to do it.

I know, IED doesnt just mean the ones in PR though in RL IED can be anything from a nade trap to a mine with a pressure padLooy wrote:Remote IEDs don't need disarming though, they won't go off unless you press send the detonation command.
