[AAR] The Usual

Post by HunterMed »

I just gathered some screenies and I will add more as soon as I get more which shouldn't take too long.

These are from different servers with many different players to many different times. So please don't tell me it is a noob server or what ever. This is PR reality too often!

Picture 1: US team "attacks" North bunkers and "defends" Outpost.
Image

Picture 2: Nearly the whole Chinese team decides to defend D6
Image

Picture 3: Fail for the lol :D
Image

Picture 4: Militia team decides to "rush" all uncapable flags while no one moves to the capable flag and caps it.
Image

Picture 5: Luckily Merk Squad decides to defend, though against 2-3 REPORTED enemy squads they (merk) and myself have no chance. Flag was lost quickly.
Image

Picture 6: Again a massive defence at Dam. 3 Irishmen are the defence wall. Nothing against irish but if they had attacked you know what would have happened...

Image

Feel free to post your similar screens... I just wanted to point out that too many SLs are too flag greedy.
Once a flag is capped DO NOT MOVE AWAY IMMEDIATLY!!!!! It is always the same..... Cap a flag, rush to the next flag, recognize that 1 minute ago capped flag is again capped by the enemy RUN back, forth and back,....

I dunno about that, isn't it said that God created whiskey so that the Irish wouldn't take over the world?

Either that or so they wouldn't have to rely solely on potatos for sustenance :p

What I want to know why almost all SLs do that?

Lack of a CO? like you said too greedy? or (most likely) just plain noobishness ex. MiI SquAd iiS L33t!!!!

I find it pretty annoying honestly, and if there was somebody actually telling each squad what to do if it would work

This is the main reason i ragequit PR 7/10 times.

I mean sriously. Ok, send 1 squade to a uncapped flag to secure it and prepare, but the rest of the team needs to get on the cappable one.

And SL cant be flag greedy, if the wanted flags, they would cap in order...

I could rant for years, but nothing is going to change. (Except if DEVs start making maps that have so restricted area that you actually have to go through all the flags...)

It's pretty simple psychology. The vast majority of video games out there encourage movement and speed as their priority meaning that as gamers we have been conditioned to think that we should be constantly moving, even when "camping". Put this mindset into PR and the slower pace simply leads to the above scenarios where apparently "greedy" SLs find it a lot easier to just move from flag to flag attacking than it is to just sit still and defend for a bit.

Sitting still to defend just isn't deemed "fun", despite it being one of the greatest challenges available in PR.

i don't know why its not deemed fun, i find defending as most of the time more fun, as theres alot more pressure and a bigger challenge which just adds to the excitement.

Like in the PR world cup when we lost to russia defending chinese deployment area on quai, it was so much fun just repelling attack after attack :D

I saw the Kashan one (I got in the last minute or so in the US team I think). Phail!
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Not to mention that in Warfare, movement and speed is key to the outcome of a battle..

Can i contribute to the thread?

We got owned at bunkers, so our squad pulled back to village and got overrun there. No sight of friendlies as they were busy doing nothing in the middle of the desert. Everybody actually gathered at the outpost for final defense wich just made the game end slower... See squad 1, they were recon squad, so far behind the enemy lines that there were no enemies there actually...

Got git hard at the 179, at the time we got back to the main they were allready there. See squad 1(same people), they were recon squad, so far behind the enemy lines that there were no enemies there actually...

That was pretty ridiculous indeed, I was getting majorly frustrated with our teams inability to play the damn game i.e. be within a 1000 bloody meters of an active cap radius.

In the OP I see Picutre 1 and Picture 2 have commanders, were they new or not organizing the team?

Chiznizzle, I see no commander in your pic for Kashan. When there is no commander people generally guess what everyone is doing, plays follow the leader to stay with a pack or just do what they want without paying attention to the flags.

Basically, if there are complaints about organization someone needs to step up and organize. If not, then no reason to complain that someone decided a different way to play the game would be more fun for them.

I dont remember really if the COs did or try anything but afaik they did not.
Most of the time the SLs don't follow those orders anyway, they do not understand that it could be wrong to go attacking even if the current flag got secured but is till under attack. This is the major problem...

One rule that more should follow: Only move to the next flag when the just capped flag is CLEAR AND FREE OF ANY ENEMIES or on CO orders.

Just had a round on Muttrah City. Our squad takes a boat to North City in time to stall the MEC cap just short of capping, we garrison a building in the cap radius and start laying waste to the surrounding area. We manage to turn the cap the other way, and the flag goes red, white and blue ;)

Its around about this point things start to get silly. I figure there's a good 80% chance City Center will be undefended and suggest someone should leapfrog us to cap it. No one does. (In fact, its a good 30/40 mins before anyone even touches down on CC) The other squad at NC gets wiped, and from that point on it was basically us against the world.

The entirety of the rest of the team seems obsessed with Docks for some reason, we are screaming out for reinforcements and none are forthcoming. Despite being basically the only US squad on land at one point, our chopper pilots seem incapable of getting any supplies to us. Everyone else is still inexplicably obsessed with Docks.

And to round the whole thing off, our Cobra TKs 2 of us (including a guy I had just revived) despite the fact we'd been sitting in the same damn building for 45 minutes, and then seconds later a MEC squad moves in and finishes of our weakened squad.

Seriously the most fail round ever.

Usually you just threat the Squad leaders that the server rules say, you must follow orders, and if you dont follow orders, i will contact an admin.

its Discipline 101. Skill and intelligence however is a rare resource, luckily, i have had the hounour of playing with extremly many smart Squad Leaders. But sometimes, you just put your hand on your face, and sigh.

Usually when i see squads that "act" stupid as CO or SL. I yell at them tell them off over Team chat. Give them responcebility for the failure of our team, and try to get transport to them.
This usually leads to a pretty pissed of squadleader. :P

Another thing i have noticed, and no offence, i have never been able to command a French squad to do what i tell them to do. That is annoying... I mean what is up with the frencH?! :P

I think all of you who are able to command, should understand the basic principle of Discipline, execute it, then take the defence and assault assets aswell as CAS and support under your wings. DEFENCE is key!
Xact Wicca is The Joker. That is all.
