I would like to see the training mode re-introduced again for several reasons:

- Coop and Singleplayer mode are both nice for training how to fight as an infantry-men and how to use most ground assets. Nothing more. You want to train flying? The coop air-vehicles move different compared to the "normal" ones. You cant fly all airplanes. AND it´s hard to train if there is an enemy plane/chopper in the air. OK, its just a bot but its still annoying. Instead you have to create a local server. You want to fly a plane on a local server? On which map they instantly spawn? And what when you crash one? Yes you can change the respawn times of vehicles. How many players know this? And is it worth doing it? Instead you can just join a server and train on a normal one.

- Training mode is nice, even for experienced players. I and many others played a few rounds of training mode for warming up or when you wait for more activity on the normal servers.

- Where should a new player train flying? I often saw "Beginners"-squads in training mode. But where are they now? They fly on normal servers! Who dont likes to see a A-10 crashing on the runway?

- When i played the training mode i often saw ppl joining the server and asking:

- What is the shovel for/how do i use it.
- How can i build a FoB?
- Do i have toi unlock weapons like in normal BF2 Vanilla? (This realy happened!)
- Where can i get a crewmen/pilot kit?
- Why did they remove training mode? I liked it so much. Please re-introduce it again!

- You only have 15 mins of time. What to do? Start a round and try to get into the fight what atleast needs 10 min? I prefeer(ed) joining a training server and waste some vehicles.

- Changed any settings and want to test them? It was so easy to check them before.
Search the "Training" button & double-click a server.

- Dont want to play the 3rd round of Muttrah in the last 3h as an infantry-men because you cant flight that well and dont want to/cant/arent allowed to drive an apc? Join a training server and waste some vehicles, even as an newbish pilot/crewmen. Nobody cares.


I had a lot of fun playing the training mode, sometimes you have a nice squad and its way easyier to train flying due to the low spawntimes. Sometimes your team is just bombing your vehicle spawn with JDAMs, destroying the choppers or stealing your loved HUEY. Then your free to leave the server and join any other.

I liked Kashan-Training the way it was.

I loved it to fly Blackhawk or Huey on Kashan Train and help people to set up a Fob or Simply Flying Crates in the Hills so that the guys there can fight the MEC. But now nobody need crates on Co-Op Servers, on most Maps that running there are no Helicopters and when they fly not like in the real Game. I loved that flying on Train Servers when i had not the time to start a real round of PR. Baserapers and Teamkiller are on Co-Op Servers too, its not a problem of the Game Mode, its a Problem of Mechanics ingame (like kill people with vehicle and sit on passenger seat). I liked the Kashan train...

I miss Kashan training. It's the place I learned to fly, got familiar with many vehicles and tested out how some kits work. Furthermore, there was ALWAYS someone kind enough to explain how things work, step by step; from requesting a kit to barrel-rolling your Huey.
I didn't really care for all those baserapers and teambombers, if there was too many of such idiots I could alway switch the server.
So, yup, I wish training was back.

[R-DEV]Ballard clearly stated that the COOP mode was mis-advertised as the new training mode. In no way does it reflect the training mode.

The DEV's have seen the community cries for adding it back in, and we can only hope they will see the light and act as such.

This is why i created this thread. As far as i see there is no thread which askes directly for re-introducing the training-mode. I hope we get a positive reply from the DEVs or atleast more information if the mode could be added in the future again.

I dont suggest to add training mode, i demand them to do it. And i think we will hear an official statement when this threads stays at the first page of this sub-forum!

Major Eric, this is the DEV's house, we are only visitors; treat them respect or ask for a refund so watch your tone, demmanding things is a fast way to get on the bad side of the DEVs.

for my part, I never want to see training mode again, COOP doesn't quite give is the training we want atm for vehicles, but I think it can me modified to be what we need.

Co-op is much better for training because there's actually something to fight. A sub-mode within co-op, or a training version/layer of co-op maps, would be best.

I say that I want training back as well, just without all the MEC having the ability to move out of the bunkers area and own every living thing with the AA. It got REALLY annoying.

I missed throwing a bunch of C4 on supply trucks and charging at enemy armor...(As unrealistic as this is, it was hilarious and a great stress reliever.)

Sitting on the sides of a Littlebird with Hat kits and trying to shoot at mec armor was fun as well.

But, it was always so spammy. People would spam bombs on the runways and infantry only areas, and Mec would camp the US mains with the Tunguska. I guess I can see why the Devs decided to remove it. I had my fun with it, but looking back I can see that it was very flawed.

My issue with no training map is that there is no easy way to play the game with fast respawns on vehicles. Thats the thing. If I crash the bird I gotta wait 60 seconds to respawn then I might only have one more bird left and then if I crash that its still maybe 10 to 15 minutes to wait for it on the more limited models. Its hard to tell people to practice offline when you may suck really hard and have to reload a dozen times just to fly 12 different times since thats faster but still takes you 3 minutes or something like that to restart.

Restart timer is 3 mins, then 45 to 60 seconds to get into the bird and have it ready to take off then crash it, another 60 seconds plus 45 to warm up then either 15 mins for respawn or another 4 minutes to get into the air again. Thats not very practical for someone starting to get familiar with a vehicle.

Then theres the issue that no map has every vehicle in it so if you want to practice flying a CAS Huey then decide you want to just try out the BH or a Jet or cross to a different faction's vehicles then you have to load a whole new map which puts you into the 5 to 6 minutes to get into the air on a different vehicle.

The issue I see from the DEVs and people is that thing about 'its not what PR is meant to be played like' but really training isn't playing, training is a deliberate artificial way to get good at something. You back the car out of your driveway before you go onto the roads with other drivers. As it is its just not appealing to try that for the most part given COOP or offline server.

Best solution is to just bring back the training mode but have the DEVs say that you're not allowed to have a public training server. This lets us practice the way we want to but keep its from becoming some never ending deathmatch mode online.

Its hard to try and push your abilities in a new chopper when you know you're gonna have to restart a map if you make a mistake. That thought alone retards your ability to learn fast. You're supposed to make mistakes then learn from them but at a slow pace it just discourages people from actually trying to learn before hitting a public server which isn't good for anybody in my opinion.

It didn't reflect how PR should be played in any way, shape, or form. It's only redeeming factor was flight training, which can be accomplished via a local server.

Who said it was supposed to? People make the complaint that its 'just a noob way to play PR and is nothing like the real thing', of course it isn't. Nobody in their right mind would take it as the real thing, and noone would play it as such. It was obvious it didn't reflect actual gameplay, nobody is stupid enough to believe that.

The flying factor was terrific, the assets weren't faction-specific so you could get practice without changing team and going through the whole rigmarole to actually get up in the air; plus it achieved something incredibly important to successful PR: giving new players a chance to fly air assets before doing the real thing. Now what happens? New players come in wanting to be chopper pilots, losing the assets, and getting banned for asset loss.

whenever I joined a training server it seemed like I was surrounded with the scum of the pond that we call the Project Reality Community.

I agree we need a COOP layer with MP config vehicles only and fast spawns for training purposes, but training mode isn't coming back no matter what imo.

You both have different experiences from what I've had on training then.

I played it on multiplayer but with little numbers, and we had some success specifically in chopper combat. Maybe a return but only on a local stage, or limiting player numbers would be ideal. I only ever used it for local purposes by myself, and on one occasion to show a mate the ropes.

But unfortunately enough..

When people take that knowledge to a real server, they could royally fuck up and piss people off.

I'm glad that the training mode is dead and buried. In fact, I hope online Co-op shares the same fate.

Neither of them promote any form of game play that encompasses what Project Reality is all about. Like everyone else has stated, it's where all the trolls go once they've been banned from every other online server.

I don't care what you thought of it, in fact I thought it was pretty bad, nevertheless it was invaluable for me to learn aspects of PR and how to use vehicles without any worry.

Maybe the Coop wouldn't be so bad if they had 2 kinds of vehicles, ones for bots and others for players that the bots don't use.
