I can't attest to the quality but I can to it being done before (with USMC though). See: Behind The Scenes - Vehicle recording at 29 Palms with the USMC - Codemasters Forums

Nice find- im sure the devs from americas army went to army range etc. to record their sounds, too. This statement from the topic poster might be wrong but who cares we are getting some new bad *** sounds. :D

It probably is the first free mod to do that kind of stuff, tho :)

But I'm also eager to hear what that Bohemia guy was doing there and if there will be further cooperation.

There is always one ....lol.

Edited just for you, but I must point out, there are not many gaming companies out there that invest so much time, money and effort on Location Recording (Or even have free access to be able to do it) ;)

BI where there because I have been in communication with them for a long time, about things just like this, this is in the interest of both parties and I will be starting discussions next week with them.

BI did not send any sound guys, just one Developer to see how things went.

Nowhere near as comprehensive and focused as what we have done (in the sense that we tried to get every single vehicle we could and get them for every single use we could think of, games and film included), but yes they did a damn good job.

In fact On Your Mark Music Productions are one of the few people I can think of who have done something similar ... the only others are a few films , and in those cases they just wanted specific sounds and not a large collection like we have done.

I wouldn't know the details but I don't think On Your Mark Music Productions recorded 20 different vehicles of the USMC, could be wrong tho. Plus they had a budget and we didn't (we relied on the good will of folks in the forces who just put a little bit of space and time aside for us and what equipment we could cobble together).

One thing is for sure ... its never been done with the UK forces before.

Mark Lacey was an all round nice guy, we had a great time with him. Think he had fun as well ... the whole trip was a blast.

So guys, do you make more some kind trips like this one? For US Army and USMC, Russian armed forces etc.? Because, this what you are doing - its making history.

BIA are not BIS. BIS make ARMA, BIA make VBS. BIA are not making downloadable content, BIS are. BIA sell to the military not the public.

They do sell to public but it costs you like 450 euro for vbs2PE. :-?
450 euro and the sound is like in arma vanilla, not very good. You cant even do things like deploy a bipod or adjust your sniper scope. But for training scenarios its ok.
