Scope Zooming?
Hi there!
I'm very new to project reality and the guide is down at the moment. I can't find out anywhere how to zoom in with a sniper rifle scope. Is it possible or was it removed from the mod? Also, I've heard a bit about the 3d scopes. Are they available yet?
Thanks, HardDiskDriver1.

First of all, welcome to the forums!
Yes the zoom function was removed from the sniper rifle and the GLTD (in .91 i guess).
The 3D scopes are not ingame, but should be intoduced in .92 i think.
EDIT: Damn, Rudd was faster

I always wondered. what are 3D scopes? I read all the blogs and saw the video, but never understood it. All i see that's different is that you can see the surrounding area?

In fact you are looking trough a modelled sights on your weapon, not only trough a texture. Iorn sights are done this way. The weapon also reacts on movement of mouse, as it has "weight". If you try to aim with M16 in vBF2 and compare it to PR ironsight M16, you will notice the diference.

In fact this is an aimpoint, not a scope, no offense. There are 3D ironsights and aimpoints ingame, and in .92 the 3D scopes will be introduced, hopefuly.gazzthompson wrote:2d:

i know. im showing the difference between the two in that you can clearly see the difference bettwen a texture and the actual model, apply that to scopes and he should get it.

Thanks. So, from what I'm seeing, 2D scopes is like, a texture of the scope that's place in a higher layer than the surrounding, so it's basically a flat image pasted over, while in 3D scopes, the scope is actually modelled onto the weapon, and the POV is just changed so it's really close to the scope on the weapon, literally, right?

Re: Scope Zooming?
So will the magnification/zoom feature on the sniper rifles and designated marksman kits be returned when 3D sights are introduced? This is just out of interest as i was playing Muttrah recently, and found that the M14 DMR had similar if not the same magnification as the Acog, is that correct?
Either way, looking forward to seeing the 3D scopes too, as they look so much more fluid in movement.

Re: Scope Zooming?
The M14 has a higher magnification when deployed, but only 4x (same as ACOG) when undeployed

Thanks for the quick answers! spent so many hours today playing singleplayer
the 3d scopes look really good from what I've seen (one of the developers posted a video of a non magnifying 3d scope on the Lee Enfield on YouTube), and I'm assuming they're faster to bring up as well since they're already loaded since they are part of the model.

Re: Scope Zooming?
the reason they're slow to bring up is because of gameplay reasons, eg. in real lfie you can't just bring the sights to your eyes and boom get your sights exactly right.HardDiskDriver1 wrote:Thanks for the quick answers! spent so many hours today playing singleplayer

Hi, here are my 2 cents:
AFAIK DMR rifled didnt ever have any dual zoom capability (correct me if im wrong), and since dual zoom at sniper rifles and GLTDs was removed in .91, i dont think it will return in .92
