i am against removing binos, for one the game is not good enough for pure visual representation, and secondly because they are standard issue infantry item, have to make that clear from the start,

but, with respect , the map is perfect for deciding whether to shoot or not, it is very clear from that if friendlies are in the direction of fire, i just wish that more people used it instead of just pulling the trigger.

This isn't a really good idea, it promotes leaping before you look. The game vs reality issue again, if we were able to look through our ACOG ingame and see as if it were real life you could argue that binocs aren't needed. Unfortunately BF2 engine doesn't really stack up to well against the human eye, so this is why players use binocs.

Running around without being able to tell if you're moving straight at an enemy or a rock until you're within the kill zone might turn the game more run and gun then it needs to be.

Removing Binos? Removing Frags? What the hell is wrong with people? What do you put in their place?

To the original poster, there are so many situations I have used binoculars, the graphics in this game really aren't good enough to give you an accurate picture of what is around you, the binoculars help with this.

Although it may have some reality that not all infantry carry binoculars removing them is a bad idea. Especially people who play with medium or low graphics needs them lot.

Not only that graphics are low but if you think about it then your game can only make it as detailed as the the resolution of your monitor is. My monitor's resolution is 1400*900 and comparing the detail with human eye is just wrong. My nickname for PR is pixelhunt bc at times I'm shooting at little moving groups of 5 pixels which should be the enemy. So taking out the binoculars for any kit is going to damage the gameplay.

Edit: I think this is why ARMA has that default zoom thingy.

^^^ yes good sir that is why ArmA has the zoomy thingy, it also show how the eye can focus on certain aspects of the battlefeild such as.... a dot on a hill... or maybe the odd molehill

The extra zoom versus a scope is invaluable not to mention the wider field of view. Add to that I hate the instazoom of the GTLD, so it makes being an SL with a non SL kit very much enjoyable.

You end up without binos as an SL with a kit that you got when revived or something and you're in trouble.

Binos promote a non trigger happy intel gathering situational-awareness-increasing habit. Definitely something we want the impulsive masses to use.

Touch my binoculars and I will slap you.

They are an invaluable tool and such an inexpensive item that soldiers easily have access to them, even if they would have to buy them themselves.
