Espionage-things

Post by Amir »

Hi everyone,

IDEA!

I've been wondering if this idea could be realized ingame if it's not hardcoded;
Make some kind of espionage available.
My first idea was; making somekind of asset/tool that only one type of kit have, like officer or sniper (not sure, depends on you guys) that you need to place on a enemy FOB-radio and ones that is done you can hear some of the enemy's team VOIP speaking. But, not everyone will hear it ofcourse. Let's say that for doing this you'll need a commander (and only he can hear it!!!) and a somekind of a 20-minute warm-up time and a white noise with here and there a bit of disortion. Also make the tool only available for like only 10-15 minutes.

WHY?
Why you ask ? Because that will make the game (maybe) a bit more playable and more tactical. Teams will be encouraged to use more "secret" language instead of just talking like usual. This will also (maybe) encourage to have a commander in a team.
Also the team will have to decide when planting this tool; do we destroy this FOB or use it as an intel-gainer ?

Ofcourse; this is the main idea though, I want to hear others peoples comments and idea's.
Would this be nice/bad ?

Edit: Seems to be hardcoded ? :(

Do frontline infantry and combat personnel attach bugging devices to the enemies radios? Does this happen at ALL in real life combat situations, including in Special Forces ops?

I can tell you now: This is a horrid idea. It is completely unrealistic, since no infantry platoon(or sniper for that matter) is going to infiltrate an enemy 'camp' to bug the enemies radios. Plus, I can guarantee this is going to be hardcoded.

The only way this can be realistically portrayed is through electronic warfare/SIGINT, which is done over huge ranges rather than on the battlefield.

Maybe if this was transformed a little into Diversons like dropable "fake" firebases that require a short time to build and when enemies destroy them this lets the team or commander know that the enemies are in that area. (Similar to waypoints for insurgents)

But is it needed? No.

Is it realistic... or akin to what happens in reality...
Not really.

cant mess with the voip its hardcoded in itself and most radio equipment has scrambling/enchryption systems, would ony be realistic in insurgency and even then only coalition could use it

Even if it's not hardcoded, I do not support this idea. Too complicated with little benefits to gameplay.

Yes it is, anything to do with the VOIP system cannot be changed.
