It is because they have opposition, JSDF doesn't, they are not in any other nations helping with soldiers are they, no. That is why you never got a forum for it.

But PR is completely hypothetical, so if the PR WWIII kicks off, it seems very likely that Japan would try to annex the Kurilles and Sachalin, because Japan has a history on those islands.

Shame to see such a well-developed faction go down the drain. Looked like the only major things left were maps and texturing of the weapons/assets.

Not sure the weapons/vehicles were optimized for PR as well. :wink:

I want to undertake this project, but there is not the skill to be usable for MOD at all....

Just leave it... I'm afraid that independently this Project went quite far but since Project Reality is now looking for factions to be used as OPFOR (and the JGSDF doesn't seem to fit as one).

Even if you get another team started to finish the current Work in progress or start over from scratch, chances that you'll the faction into PR are slim, very slim.

Which is sad because I peronally would have loved a JSDF faction for PR.

The enemy of JGSDF is only Russia or China
Those two countries have already existed, and they are fighting against the various countries.
PRmod is short of the faction to fight against the Western Bloc.

Then, the navy doesn't exist in PRmod.
Japan destroys 40% from 20% of the landing party of the enemy on the sea

It is different in the case of the remote island.
The enemy defend a remote island. Japan attacks it to take the remote island back.
It becomes a map like "OPERATION BARRACUDA".

This project is dead, and I am very sad,,,,,,
I look for dev that this project is continued.
and I learn a skill to be able to help with MOD making :)

I never remember which grenade PR is using! Is it the M67 or M26?? Anyway, need reskin or new model.

some weapons contain "訓練用" or "演習用". they mean "used for training".
"1号" and "2 4/1号" maybe stand for the weights like "kilogram" or "pound".
72式対戦車地雷 is used for training in JSDF and there is description represents "used for training"(72式演習対戦車地&#38647 ;) .
M26型訓練用手榴弾 is M26 hand grenade. perhaps it's lisence production.
also there are another grenades that used in JSDF, Mk2 "Pineapple" and Mk3A2.

I am a Japanese but I'm not a JSDF employee nor soldier.
I often watch this thread so ask me freely if you can't understand difficult Japanese.

I don't suppose there's any chance that this will come out of "hibernation" any time soon? The JSDF was one of the factions I was looking forward to most. I think this would only be the second real eastern army and we have plenty of western and middle eastern ones. iirc the main reason the JSDF was denied support was because we had plenty of blufor factions but not enough opfor factions. What about North Korea? I mean obviously we haven't made em yet but perhaps some sort of "we get support if we also make NK" or something?

I cant be the only person that wants to get the JSDF in can I? I mean they have so much flavor. with their focus on sea based operations how about replacing mortars and off map support for them with one player operated destroyer with a very low ROF? iirc someone pointed out that they are one of the few modern armies that still use rifle grenades as opposed to underslung launchers? You could even give the officers katanas :P (yes I know they changed to using western cavalry swords but it would be badass and really give the faction its own flavor.)

I know this stuff would take a lot of work but it would give PR a really interesting and unique faction. Is there any sort of organization still here lying dormant or something just in case the DEVs decide to let us in at some point? I personally don't have any skills in modeling or textureing or mapping or anything like that but id be willing to learn something to help out if I could. I just really want to see this faction in-game!

You're not the only one who wants to see this project back up and running but let's face it.... Few people have modding skills and time to invest on this. By now I fear the project would have to be made all over again from scratch.

And I think the only way you can get the JSDF being accepted in PR is if it's made as an OPFOR. At least for the time being.

community factions are made by the community, hoping wont bring this anywhere. get yourself organized and start or leave this alone.

Wait what? Correct me if I'm wrong here but I thought the whole reason this factions development fell apart was lack of DEV support? Obviously some time has passed since then are you guys willing to support us now? If you are hell I'd be willing to try and get something organized myself!

One thing must not be forgotten, community factions are first developped by the community, they can receive advice from developers/contributors, but the main effort should come from the community itself, not from the dev/cons.

The developers invest a lot of time in community factions when they approach a release cycle, but not before ;) . We have already a lot of work on the core factions ;) .

Well I guess I'm gonna try to see what I can do with this. I dunno how much I'm gonna be able to do as I don't have any experience with this or anything so try not to get your hopes up too high but I'm gonna give it a shot. Anyone with any skills assets or anything else really that they can contribute send me a PM with what you've got and I'm gonna try to get ahold of 162eRI and see if I can pick up where he left off.

I don't personally have any skills atm that I can add to the project but I'm gonna read through the tutorials on the forums and try to at least get an idea of the process for all the different parts of creating a faction and maybe give a few of em a shot. If anyone can contribute any skills, assets, advise, or general help it would be greatly appreciated.
