I don't know what the problem is. I got a few punkbuster B related crashes but I suspect that's because I pressed escape to access the menu when it was stuttering which caused massive lag which froze the game for long enough for punkbuster heartbeats to stop and boot me.
I checked the sticky thread and reinstalled punkbuster etc. anyway just in case but it hasn't helped.
I'm running 2gb ram but that shouldn't really be the problem either.
Tried running the BF2 cleaner thing, deleted the cache and all, tried that tool that shuts down all non-essentials, gamer-whatever.
Not making any difference.
I just don't know what to do to try to fix it.
When I join a game, empty or full doesn't matter, it takes like 5 minutes to get in. Then when I finally make it in, trying to get past the squad selection is a crashable offence, if I do make it however, I'm rewarded with stuttering gameplay for a few minutes before the game inevitably overloads and information gets lost and punkbuster decides to spaz out and boot me.
Slow load times and stuttering.

Check Punkbuster B is set to auto re-start.
Hope it helps
W7 users = In services ( inside the 'log on' tab) check box which states “Allow this service to interact with the desktop.=HOG=Romeo_One_Three wrote:Open your Control Panel. Go to Administrative Services. Click
on Services while PR is running. Select Punkbuster B, right click, select properties, select the
recovery tab and make sure they all say "Restart the service" for all three dropdowns. You can do
the same for PB A, but generally speaking, it's the B client that stops responding. Any time you
update PB, you may need to re-do this step.
Hope it helps
