I 'might' get it....
I did just shell out $100 on a multi-touch bambo pad... soo... I guess its not too bad... specially if it is supported in Arma II PR and PR:BF2.

@ytman
BF2 engine doesn't support TrackIR to my knowledge, nor freetrack.
I personally possess the TrackIR5 along with TrackClip Pro for better heatrack accuracy.
Naturally it's for Arma 2 and IL-2 1946 games, since i don't have other games that support such system.

Re: How many own a TrackIR?
during my uncalled-for ban, i became an owner of TrackIR 5!DevilDog812 wrote:i hope to get TrackIR by the end of July, even if PR doesnt support it. however, it would be AWESOME if PR supported it. it would be much easier to land helos and you could look around without having to cycle through your weapons
i have to admit, it is pretty bad ***. ive used it for FSX and IL2: Pacific Fighters, and even in only a couple of days, im 10x better at dogfighting and flying in general.

I own a TrackIR 5. Its great but also takes getting used to. Using your head is harder than you think in a game at first since I've had years of being used to craning and bending my head anyway I felt like in the midst of a fight.
IL-2 is definitely 100% cooler with it, especially with the 6DOF mod.

I do not have one. Once PR:A comes out I may consider it. Imagine your headphones falling off in the middle of flight though.

Doesn't seem like it's worth the money TBH. I don't plan to get one.

.....Seem to you or seem to everyone?
You have to realize that some of us think that buying 3 monitors, a trackIR, 3D Glasses, and gold-plated toilet seats are "worth the money"

Re: How many own a TrackIR?
Maybe for an infantry game its an unecessary expense but for a hardcore flight sim it really is a significant improvement on how you deal with a dog fight. Rudder pedals were a nice add on for me, but a track ir really made my situational awareness tons better, and we all know that in a fight knowing where the enemy is is more important than anything else if you wanna win.

Re: How many own a TrackIR?
I have my TrackIR 5Pro now and use it all the time with Arma 2OA and when I then switch on PR I find myself running along and turning my head to look around and then realising what is missing in this great game of PR...
Damn shame it doesn't work with it, would make such a difference especially when flying choppers and jets...

I use FreeTrack and built my own contraption (a battery pack with 3 infrared LED's) using a WiiMote as an infrared sensor. Works great as long as you use expensive bluetooth software.

You need one of these to go with track IR

Unless I get the glasses, I would prefer some kind of cooliehat on the side of the mouse that you can operate with your thumb, but a "look around" button that lets you look around with the mouse without disabling the controls will do too.

Re: How many own a TrackIR?
I've had my TIR4 for a few years now and wouldn't go back to flight simming or ARMA without it. The situational awareness is unparalleled.
I think you can get them for less than $200:
Amazon.com: TrackIr 5 Professional Premium Head Tracking for Gaming: Video Games: Reviews, Prices & more
- and they're WELL worth it.
