These are just questions kind of directed to the coders about some random questions i have in PR
My first question is, what if you have 2 lazes, on two different targets maybe 100m apart, and if a pilot were to lock on to one target and drop his bombs at the same time, would one bomb go to one target and the other bomb go to the other target? or can the BF2 engine not handle that?
Second question is about deviation, when you have your sights down and you have held them in place for the full time (i think its 8 seconds) when you pull up your sight will your gun be at its most accurate or do you have to wait a few more seconds before you can fire?

1. if you're locked on a target and drop 2 bombs both will go on the locked target iirc
2. You're most accurate when prone, zoomed in and deviation is gone. if you zoom out you loose a bit of accuracy. this is not deviation though just...i don't know.

Re: Multiple lazes and multiple bombs and other questions
Almost SSniper but not quite.
1. No they wont go to different targets if dropped at "excatly the same time" as the bomb/missile locks onto the nearest target it can find in its locking FOV. So if the bombs where dropped at the same time then they would both find the same target which is the closest one to them in there FOV. If they where dropped at slightly different times then since they are in slightly different positions (unless the jet/chopper was 100% still) it might find a slightly different target to go for.
Also a gay thing about the BF2 engine is that the projectile you fire dosen't actually lock onto the object you locked onto on your HUD if there is a better option for the missile/bomb, it will go for that, even if its a "friendly" target.
2. the deviation will be at minimum yes afaik but I'm no expert on deviation.

No, you dont have to wait again.Second question is about deviation, when you have your sights down and you have held them in place for the full time (i think its 8 seconds) when you pull up your sight will your gun be at its most accurate or do you have to wait a few more seconds before you can fire?
8 seconds is for sniper rifles, for regular rifles it is somewhere around 4 seconds.

Does the settle time change if you are prone and unmoving but switch from bino to rifle ?

no, if you didn't move deviation is not affectedCallousDisregard wrote:Does the settle time change if you are prone and unmoving but switch from bino to rifle ?

Re: Multiple lazes and multiple bombs and other questions
I have a few questions related to this:
1) If you are still for 8 sec. (deviation is at it lowest) and reload your weapon, does the deviation reset even if you don't move?
2) So as I understand correctly, switching weapons does not affect deviation so long as you don't move. Correct?
3) Can a bomb lock onto a Laze that you haven't locked onto? For example, lets say you are at high altitude and do not see a particular laze that is down below. You drop a bomb in the general area of where you think the laze is. When the bomb is in mid flight will it be able to track on that laze if it is within range even though you don't see it.
4) (similar to #3) If you drop a bomb on a Lazed target, and mid flight the guy on the ground changes the laze, does the bomb still track on the updated laze? Example: Re-lazing a moving vehicle to keep the box on it (sometimes the box doesn't stick to the vehicle)

1) Only walking, going prone, or moving your mouse around in a rapid fashion will increase your deviation.RELEASE_THE_KRAKEN wrote:I have a few questions related to this:

2) Answered by #1.
3) Yes. Drop your bomb far enough out from the target that it will have the time to both arm and lock (an old tutorial mentioned 800m from target and 800m alt is a good place to release the bomb from).
4) It can, but the laser is a projectile and actually flies through the air before sticking to the target. If the laser is still in flight when the bomb hits the ground, it will hit off the intended target (instead attempting to hit the position of the laser as it flew).

Yea the bombs can follow the laser. I've seen some bombs fly at angles that are physically impossible, AKA 90 degrees horizontally.

Re: Multiple lazes and multiple bombs and other questions
3. Currently yes but this only works with LGBs. At the moment LGBs are fired "armed" even if you are locked onto a target or not but in our next release we have them so you have to drop them in a "locked state" in order for them to lock onto a target, much like AA missiles etc work now.RELEASE_THE_KRAKEN wrote:I have a few questions related to this:

4. yes.
Ye, its basically code wise because the bomb has a missile engine, without any missile tail effect behind it hehe. We hope to fix this and make it more realistic for future releases where all the bomb dose is free fall but just steers into the target but dunno how possible this is, Leusch may have already coded it I know he was looking into itCanuckCommander wrote:Yea the bombs can follow the laser.
