The Installer Freezes My Computer

Post by CommanderAE »

Every time I try to install the mod it freezes the moment I click on the .exe, I have Windows XP.

Need more detail...
You're whole computer freezes? Or just the installer freezes?
Can you Ctrl+Alt+Delete out or do you have to reboot?

A re-download from a different source or the torrent (if it is still around?) will probably be the best way to fix it.

Well it freezes my entire computer and I'm forced to restart my computer, so I have no idea how to get the torrent.

Btw, I do have bittorrent I just need a link or something.

Its been something like twenty minutes already my computer is just running slow now and nothing is happening, this mod better be worth the damned hassle it takes to just install it.

It has been another half hour and I give up, I'm restarting my computer and until someone gives me a solution this is just plain pointless. I hear forgotten hope is better so I might as well stick to that unless someone can figure this bull out because this mod seems to have a lot of problems based on what I see on this forum.

I had the same problem on vista though.Intalling in safe mode than deleting the installer shortcuts solved my problem.

I didnt have this when I downloaded the torrent just the one from this site.

Well the torrent one doesn't freeze my computer, it just slows it down a lot and after an hour there still isn't any installer popping up.

How old is your processor and how much RAM do you have? Also, do you have enough space on your HD? You shouldn't really be using your computer to do other things while something (especially PR) is installing. Restart your computer, close any resource heavy programs that may load on startup, start the install, go away and do something else for a while.

You're not starting the .exe from a remote location are you? Make sure it's on your desktop or something before you start it i.e. not on an external HD or USB drive.
