I think the rally point change simulates the RL value of life and importance of survival, by making dying an inconvenience. You don't want to have to walk all the way back constantly, so be more alert and do whatever you can to stay alive. In real life people take cover when being shot at, but in PR a lot of people try to do the same things as in other fps and just complain when they keep dying. And if nothing else, can't you still play the older versions?

Um, really?
'[R-DEV wrote:AncientMan;1408448']Rally Points rearm automatically 10 min after expiring. Skirmish gamemode it's still 2 min.

and they still only last 30 seconds. Meaning, if you get whipped out, Your bound to walk for 10 minutes, and that really makes clan scrims boring as hell. Especially on the Larger Scrim Maps.

10 mins? pretty sure you can sprint half of most skirmish maps in less than a min. Got some sort of source on that?

.75 Had alot of teamwork and was simple.
.91 Has alot of eye candy with some stupid changes.
Let me guess.. what could have made 0.75 better.. no deviation? :P
I know deviation is there for a reason, but sometimes it makes me rage quit and go play BC2, talking bout CQB deviation stuff, sometimes missing a guy 5m infront of me while sighted in (on semiauto) with like 50% of the rounds.. or the deviation while firing from the hip and moving (done that irl in IDF, bullets didnt leave barrel at 45 degrees etc).

He means 10 minutes as a figure of speech, as in it takes a hell of a long time (whch it does)

its not a figure of speech, its an exaggeration

the only skirmish map that takes a while to walk accross is Yamalia

Speakin of skirmish , the insurgents , hamas , taliban have the chance to build a fob without crate . This makes skirmish much more hard for blufor when playing against these factions . The enemy keeps comin from nowhere , but if u dead u have to move all the way back . That's not fair ..

Hmm. a 3 hour match of yamalia and a 1 and a half hour match of Beruit, both of which could have been a 3rd of the time if we didnt have to respawn at main.

and just for your precious "source" I went in game and ran across 3 maps as fast as I could (mind you that time would be about double if you were trying to get around without dying) Maps were Beruit, Kashan, and Yamalia, 3 of the most requested maps for clan scrims (in my experience) and guess how long it took with a full on charge through the middle from one flag to another? 5 minutes give or take 30 seconds. Now on matches with time limits that could be upto 30% of the match running around from just one respawn.

but you seem to be the flash if you can make it across these maps safely in under a minute.

Your team is given, choppers, APCs, cars and firebases for a reason. Complaining that walking takes too long on maps with said assets is a non-argument. I have played numerous clan matches (32v32) and I have never heard complaints that walking makes the game boring.

This is where you fail to understand basic game design.

1. If you can spawn at the front you value your life much less, creating COD gameplay.
2. This is a game based on teamwork. Part of that is being able to organize transportation. If you can spawn at the front then a massive part of the gameplay is removed and it devolves into COD.
3. If your team works together you will not face the problems you complain about. If your team fails to work together there are consequences that you will feel in terms of deteriorating gameplay. If this was not the case then people would not bother working together and you would once again wind up with COD gameplay.
4. The pace of the game is required for teams to have the time to coordinate and maneuver around the map. If the pace is much quicker then you will lose strategic and tactical options.
5. The maps are as big as they are so that teams can make meaningful maneuvers, so that there is always room for maneuvers, so that the chance of combat being limited by artificial map borders is lower, and to accommodate the amount of players and the types of assets.

Let me break this to you; the things you complain about are absolutely necessary in order for the gameplay PR provides to exist. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

If you bother to actually take on transportation duties once in a while, if you build FOBs more frequently, if you work with your team, then the problems you are facing will disappear. When you come here and complain about stuff like this it only tells me that you do not care to make the occasional sacrifices to improve the gameplay experience of your teammates. Until such a time as you manage to actually do so I have but one answer for you: go play COD.

You realize I'm talking about Skirmish Maps...right? thats the game mode that doesn't have all the stuff you mentioned. You know? The one that's met for 6v6/9v9. The one that need rally point or else you spend 40% of your Skrim walking. Yea. Read all my post before you make one that isn't related to anything I was talking about.

So...You know. Read all my post on this subject instead of one.

Under a min was an exaggeration on my part (as was your 10 mins), i would make a more accurate guess at 2 mins to cover half of a map. I will have a quick test later when im home, eitherway 10 mins is a massive over exaggeration for most maps (fools road is huge) and unless your constantly fighting for the enemy main base alot of engagements will not happen at the extreme other end of the map.

Could skirmish be tweaked? sure.

My ten minutes was an estimate of what it would take if you got killed in a cap out situation and had to run back (probably not running through the middle unless you wanna start over again), my main point is non-expiring rally points would really help Skrimish modes.

I dont like this PR, no rallys make a hiperboring game, walk walk walk to die by a SAW (SuperPowered Gun, he can shoot a lot of rounds with a sniper precision +500 m) (a friend kill a sniper in muttrah, he was in Hotel and the sniper in the mountains), Insurgency gamemode its the same, nobody build hideouts, all the insurgents around the main base bored, allways all the team in Main base waiting for vehicles... Other cases, like Op.Barracuda, the USMC, as no, hiper doped, with attacks helis and LAV-25, its to easy for them, and allways everybody in the chat spamming "admin admin, he stole my APC" In general. Please put rallys like the old version, its more dinamic and funny game. And equilibre the gameplay. Now allways its for the americans.
Sorry for my english

I think it's strange that the team puts more focus on insurgency (at least I think so) and yet insurgency is always less and less fun. While the team has been chasing more realism, the insurgents have lost their mobility and most elements of surprise. Realistic, maybe. Fun, no.

Taliban insurgency is still fun but Iraqi insurgents..I hate it nowadays.

I generally agree with Fuzzy, I personally think the issue is the maps and their asset layout..... too many are just boring... i rarely play unless certain 'fun' maps are on or mates are about. It might just be that playing the same game for 5 years is the issue, or it might be the game/DEV team takes itself a bit too seriously and has lost its fun factor.

dtacs wrote:Then maybe PR just isn't the game for you anymore mate, its the unfortunate reality that happens with lots of games for lots of different people. I want to play ARMA 2 since its an awesome game, but I just find myself more interested in PR since its more accessible. Maybe you've just outgrown PR and need something else? Remember, the game evolves and grows too.

But on the other hand, the game may very well become exactly what you want it to be in the future, what with PRV and PRA coming out.
I couldnt have said any better..thanks dtacs 8-)
