Well, it was a fun night, but the turnout was really low.

At one point we had 16 players, but that was the peak. The great thing about CnC mode, though, is that it scales pretty well, even with low player counts. We had a good time playing for a few hours with 10 people on.

We also got some great feedback on some of the scripts we're working on that run in parallel to PR handling things like reporting pilot/driver ratings. So, for instance, when you get a in a chopper with someone you can see how much seat time they've had and their rating. Someone with 30 minutes and an F rating? Might not want to catch a ride with that guy.

We also had some people notice a bug in our commendation/demerit support, where you could rate yourself. I've since fixed that.

All in all, it was fun. We may try to have another event. We also play a mix of AAS and CnC every Wednesday and Sunday night (US time). You'll also see us around on Fridays from time to time.

I've had some questions via PM about the scripts I mention above, so I figured I'd just share my response with everyone here:

The scripts we're running track people entering and leaving vehicles. They also track when vehicles are destroyed. We calculate a rating from that information and display it to the pilot/driver and his/her passengers when they enter a given vehicle. (Last night I added a feature that sends a message out to the team with a player's rating upon entering certain high-value assets like fighters and attack choppers, but I haven't deployed that version to our server yet, I'll probably do that tonight after work.) The script keeps track of pilot/driver ratings in classes of vehicles (fighter, bomber, attack heli, tank, truck, etc.) as opposed to specific vehicles (apache, m1a1, etc.). It stores this data into a database in google appengine.

Eventually, we'll be able to make the scripts public for other servers so that pilot/driver performance can be tracked across multiple game servers, but for now we're still improving the scripts and working out the bugs.

We're working on some other systems in addition to this one but those need more time before we enable them on our server.

That seams like a pretty cool system and it looks like it could really help reward the skilled asset users.

I'd be interested in playing CnC. I've actually never seen a game running before.

Perhaps we could plan one in the future, and hype it up here a little more than two days notice... or: get another big clan involved TG or something?
