Switch Sides Indicator

Post by Meester »

Just like you see who has been teamkilled and who has been disconnected, there should be a message on the top of the screen to indicate who has switched sides. This would help [especially in Insurgency] in hunting those down who are helping the other side.

+ name the civi killers, please.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Some people are just lame and would play a multiplayer game with god mode if they could. Cheating on a PR server is just lame, you dont get anything for it. If a server is populated by the people with the wrong mindset, play elsewhere, or become part of the community there, so that you can eventually become an admin.

Yeah the whole "find a better server" is a good bit of advice for a lot of problems encountered on various servers, but I've seen this type of stuff happen on Tactical Gamer (in my opinion the best server for consistently awesome team-play). TG has great, responsive admins - Except in this situation, even they can't tell who the culprits are.

I think this would be a solid addition - Public humiliation/flaming by peers tends to be enough to keep most people in line, failing kick/bans.

Yeah, here at CIA, we support this measure as a tool in which admin and player alike can make sure everything is kosher during team play.

For that matter, at least within the insurgency game mode, is there a way to stop or at least hinder heavy assets like the HAT and Engie kit from being taken.

I would love for a way to recall the kit to some unknown location or an admin message to point out that a player has the kit. Perhaps In the same fashion as in Vanilla where a kill was registered with a specific weapon/vehicle.

The only way this would be good was if it was via a script only visible to admins. The script could make the event that occurs when teamswitching happens be added to the log (visible from bf2cc/daemon)

I dont switch teams to cheat, I do it because I love the M16's. They're perfect on Muttrah :)

Whats wrong with teamswitching? I hate being insurgents and try to switch. If your gonna be playing for fun why should you have to put up with being on the team you don't enjoy.

generally it can be detrimental to the server, if you switch autobalance will move someone in to your place, and maybe that person was playing with friends, or was insurgent last round...

would probably be a nice touch if there was a way of reviewing who has switched rather than getting a real time list

so, admin notices its 27 vs 35, console admin.switcherlist in order of who switched last

5-a
4-b
3-c
2-d
1-e

admin then can start buildling lists of constant offenders/notice who is switching to be with friends etc. Or even notice the nice people who switch in order to intentionally balance teams.

smells hardcoded to me, good ideas always are -_-
There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

Either I misinterpretted the original post, or y'all did. The problem is not with teamswitching - We've all got buddies we play with, and that's totally fine in my opinion.

What I think this suggestion was getting at was keeping people from REPEATEDLY switching to and from the Insurgent team so as to gain cache locations. It happens when pubbies are frustrated with the length of a insurgency round and try to speed things up for the next map.

No one cares if anyone switches. I only give a damn when I see the same guy switching three+ times, and then having three undetected caches explode with one or two blue-force players in the area.

I just put a similar suggestion on another thread. It was to remove the players' teamswitching ability and if you need to be switched to the other team, you can ask an admin.

No, can easily be done with a Python script.

If you do that, you can never switch if no admins are online.

If the purpose of having a switch sides indicator is to
prevent retard players from cheating, it's not gonna work, those guys use teamspeak too, i think that this problem is impossible to be solved... :28_behead

For me, the fun part is Search and find the cache, i don't know why these guys like to cheat, removing the fun part of the insurgency mode....

i liked rudd's suggestion, i hate when i'm playing with my friends and get switched by auto balance because someone from the other team switched....

Arma 2 has it. A simple 'Meester has switched to Insurgents' noticable by everyone, shouldn't be too hard to achieve and is as realistic and practical as the 'Meester has tked someone' message which everyone can also see.
