'[R-DEV wrote:bosco;689759']I can't see why it would be a problem if you made one for yourself...

The idea actually was around since early 2007 Image
Than why hasn't it happened yet!?

Seriously, with all the money people are saving by not buying chintzy console games, I'm sure most people would love to deck out their station with some ligit PR gear!

I personally wouldn't mind dropping $50 every release for a nicely bound collectors edition manual and some good sized lamented maps.

Hells, with an indie-game like PR, I bet you all would make more bank on the merchandising than if you were to start charging for the game.

Open up a damned store and get yourselves paid already!

the problem is that they would have to put ridiculous amounts of money into it first in order to have the products made, and then there's the risk that not enough people will buy the products for them to break even let alone make profit.

the problem with something like this is although a lot of people say they would buy when they are asked online, a lot of the time they wont. Yeah you'd totally say yes if you were being asked whether or not you would hypothetically buy it, but when the situation arises where you are actually paying $30 for that t-shirt it feels very different.

this is one of the reasons for all those phantom products which you catch wind of online then when you look for it it's not around. because they run surveys to see if people would want a product like that, get a positive response from 80%, mass produce the product, and only 10% actually end up buying it.
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

If the bottle neck is a lack of business sense from the PR team, like you describe, than me smells a money making opportunity for myself here.

But seriously, coming from someone who has written and executed a fair number of business plans, some of which didn't even fail ;) , I promise you this one here is money in the bag.

There is a clear demand for a simple and strait forward product(s) that can be easily produced for hardly any risk at all. You don't need to invest your mum's life savings, just find a few manufacturers willing to drop ship on demand (there are lots). The margins will be smaller, but you can always mass produce the items that turn out to be popular down the road.

Easy money.

deffo buy a mug

and the maps and manual if it wasnt too expensive.

The best an probably cheapest thing to do (if possible in the BF2 engine) is to give special in-game items

like an weapon with camouflage, or the markings on someones kit geometry saying PR instead of the usual ones, different colored shades, a smiley on the red dot sight or have PR written somewhere in the corner of the scope, different colored red dots
people would probably get them if they were 5$ max
if its not possible of PR:bf2 maybe PR:arma or PR2

sorta like the preorder gun in BF2142

There is only one unforgivable lie That is the lie that says, This is the end, you are the conqueror, you have achieved it and now all that remains is to build walls higher and shelter behind them. Now, the lie says, the world is safe.? The Great Khan.

40k is deep like that.

I want PR undies, like a USMC guy t-baggin and insurgent while a bomb car comes from behind about to hit a friendly mine, with a LB unleashing hell with the machine guns and stuff. Then add some more smoke, explosions, rails and fastropes and I'd order one with overnight shipping.
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

A PR shirt where the back looks like a pack of the SL and the front has PR dogtags hanging would be awesome.

I feel compelled to point out that the pre order gun was WORSE than the one the rest of us got, owing to the fact that the ******* took up 1/4th of the screen, but used the exact same damage, ballistics, and deviation tables as the smaller rifle it replaced.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

I would buy a Mousemat and PR Dog Tags, IF there was anything related to airsoft in the store, I would buy a PKM, a few smoke grenades and binoculars (with Night Vision!) :D
