1 .Make a new copy of PR...by installing 0.8.
2. Train on that.

Re: Training Mode v0.9
I personally wish they had kept training servers, Without them, PR is completely ruined on many servers. I was playing on a server with 64 players, at least half of them were unsure how to use the assets they grabbed... But especially maps with attack choppers and planes are experiencing terrible problems, noobs grabbing planes and smashing them into the walls of the base, attack choppers flipping a few seconds after they spawn. If training servers are not brought back, i'm considering boycotting Project Reality. A lot of experience players are pissed as well. I do understand why they removed training servers, but I think they should be designed better and brought back. All in all the pro's of the training servers Definitely beat out the cons.
SO PLEASE! Don't ruin this amazing "Game", At least bring back training servers for offline use only, then clans can use hamachi to train together.

- people have slow internet so takes time to download
- some people prefere not to use up lots of space on their hardrive
- you can't ask anyone questions on that ro train with anyone else unless they also download it

Re: Training Mode v0.9
I only started playing this game with v0.91 but I really want some way to train with Heli's. In vanilla I just created a local game and set the spawn time to 1s and could fly them competently within 45 minutes as as soon as I crashed it took maybe 20s to get back in flight. But in PR I have to wait 60s after every crash and after I use up all the helos its faster to restart the game than wait for them to respawn.
Most servers also have a "DO NOT TRAIN HERE!" rule, but there are absolutely no easy alternatives and so people do often take the assets and crash them into mountains etc. I guess the alternatives suggested here are okay for the more experienced players, but it doesn't really help the newer players who rarely visit the forums.
I think just a single player mode with instant respawn for the assets and the player, with no kit limits, would be all that's required...

Re: Training Mode
Yeah that is actually why I logged into the forums today. I have been playing PR since 84 and play it a lot. We always had those training servers and it made such a difference. If you wanted to teach a friend how to play it was perfect, and if you didn't want to get pwned you could still join a server with only a few people in it and practice. I have been talking to people on voip about this and everyone agrees that they miss training servers and it was a big help. One guy said the RDEV guys took them out cause too many people were training and messing around instead of playing on deployment. I suppose that was true sometimes, but atleast people had a place to learn. The co op servers really don't provide the best place to learn imo, and the bots are retarded. I am sick of noobs getting into choppers and wrecking them constantly or crashing jets etc. The training server gave the noobs a place to go play around while the hardcore PR vets played legit games. PLEASE BRING BACK TRAINING SERVERS !!!!!!Lemon wrote:I'm with you, how are new players going to learn how to fly? Local game?

lets hope someone from the R-DEV crew comment about this. Training servers are needed seems pretty clear.

what i hate is how the planes (the non-hangar planes) and helis handle differently in Coop. This makes it so that people will join a Deployment game thinking they know how to fly, when actually they don't because they handle differently.

Also, can we get any clue if DEVs are considering re-introducing training mode? I know before .9 implementing co-op was advertised by pretty much anyone as a new training mode but apparently that just didn't work...

Re: Training Mode v0.9
The thing with the training-servers was, that you could get used to vehicles and weapons
You could crash one jet after the other and they just respawn after one is away from the spawnplace
Now you have to wait 20min like on a normal server, or waste tickets AND wait 20min for the jet on a public game

Re: Training Mode v0.9
Would be great to get training servers back up.
Firstly it was very good to learn how to fly choppers / jets or to drive vehicles like tanks etc. which you normally can't even get to use on a normal server (e.g. some people instantly creating a HELO-squad grabbing all the assets) and when you would get one you would only crash because you've only flown some BF2 vanilla choppers. Secondly it was also a great deal of fun when not wanting to go on a "serious" round to just fly / drive around a bit, trying to hit some houses etc.
I can't really understand why this option was removed. The argument that training server where a "haven" for people who just wanted to fool around or something isn't really valid. A part of these people probably hang around on normal servers now and I can't see the point anyway of forbidding people to do what they like on a training server because after all it is a training server!

Fly in Deployment Local Mode or with some of the normal air assets in Co-op, is my advice. Bring your friends if you need help or want company. (go on Hamachi)
Kashan Training was nothing but a rapefest all over and not an effective place for learning.
I do agree that there should be a new kind of Training mode, albeit different from the former Kashan and Qinling Training.

Re: Training Mode v0.9
Was this a new phenomenon with v0.9? I last played training mode in the (probably earlier) v0.8 days and I can't remember it beeing a "rapefest". Ok, I got shot down a few times by AA but hey that happens in actual games too and I got to learn how to cope with it. And when you didn't want to be shot down you could just fly around some other part of the map. I just don't understand why something is removed from the game when each person can decide if they want to play it or not. Just getting rid of it with no proper alternative (Co-op, empty servers with insame spawn times, etc.) because some people didn't like it isn't really a solution IMHO.

Didn't know that was available in previous versions but I wish it was now. Would've helped me very much, and others as well. Has me thinking about Americas Army with all the training **** you have available to do, target practice, sniper training, weapon introduction, individual weapon training, airborne training, the stuff was unbelieveable.

Re: Training Mode v0.9
Here's a thought. Why not bring back Practice mode, but hardcode it so that it can only be run offline, on a persons computer. Noobing isn't fun when there is no one else around, and you can still get in your flying practice.
Using Co-op for flying practice is great if you're practicing choppers, but jets don't handle the same in Co-op, and I don't know many players who are going to start a normal match, just to wait 20 minutes for the jets to spawn.
Not everyone has easy access to a clan that runs dedicated training programs. Those people are SOL.

The beatings will continue untill morale improves.

Uh, I'm pretty sure that training attracts people that run counter to what PR should be.oxYris wrote:Would be great to get training servers back up.

Thing is, at this very moment they are baseraping on some co-op server at kashan desert laughing demoniacally.Hunt3r wrote:Uh, I'm pretty sure that training attracts people that run counter to what PR should be.
So.. problem solved, huh? Players are hardcoded, if he's an ***, he will be, no matter what.

Re: Training Mode v0.9
arent there enough people longing to get the training mode back now? id love it! there is no similar possibility to get into many of the games features or for simple practice!
coop? cant work with that and i dont really see the coherence between the main game and this curious mode.
