PLA PF-98 HAT model

Post by BOBA_fat »

yesterday I was trying to find some pictures of Chinese PF-98 rocket launcher

and I found some interesting pictures of "loaded PF-98"

notice there's some kind of extension in the back of those PF-98 launchers,I think that's how a loaded PF-98 looks like, but the PF-98 model in PR doesn't have the rear extension

maybe that's the single shot version in PR =D?

idk..

The 'extension' behind the launcher is actually the single 120mm HEAT rocket that is loaded similar to a bazooka from WW2. We do admit that our current model is missing that piece.

would you be able to make it disappear when shot, or animated so it goes inside the tube?

This is an interesting thead.

I never knew that part of rocket stuck out like that.

I'm also curious about the first two pictures.

Picture 1 - If he fires that, it is going to explode 20 metres in front of him!

It looks incredibly awkward to fire whilst prone because it seems your left arm would have to lift the launcher so it doesn't explode a few metres in front. I have also concluded that perhaps the rocket sticks out at the big is as a counter balance as weight in a design flaw?

Probably wrong but just my thoughts/observations.

Picture 2 - That is definitely some good old fashioned PR style HAT-ing right there. Enemy helicopter spotted!

I have also noticed that the optical sight MUST be a adjustable as to what angle you have it at. See picturs 1 and 2 :)

Why? You can't even see what's 20 meters in front of him.

You mean, you'd have to hold the weapon with your hands and support it with your arms?

Not really, see pictures 2 and 3, they both show the sight being parallel to the weapon.

It looks like it is being held at downwards angle because he can't lift it high enough.

I disagree. I also disagree with what I said first about the adjustable sight. I believe there to be 2 different optical sights in the pictures :)

The launcher in Pic 1 does looks like it has a sight similar to the PF89, whereas the other two inc the one in-game has the ballistic computer.

I wonder if we should make the deployable AT for the PLA be the tripod version of that one, instead of whatever they have now...

The HJ-8 they have now makes sense, it's a PLA weapon. The PF98 isn't even guided.

It wouldn't kill in one shot since the missile doesn't have the same payload as the TOW/MILAN.

Or does it?

Ye HJ-8 is more common as a tripod emplacement, the PF-98 is more a mobile weapon with a tripod option :)
