Re: PR Magazine maybe a go....?
Well then sylent, start work on the first issue then. Obviously the magazine is more popular than the podcast so I guess that's your mandate. If you need anything then shoot me a pm.

Re: PR Magazine maybe a go....?
Define "podcast". I'm used to Skeptoid, which is a short, consise, well-designed weekly podcast with episodes about 10-15 minutes long.
I absolutely cannot stand the more common podcasts that ramble on for hours, especially the ones that are run by people who don't even try to prepare themselves beforehand. Any Dwarf Fortress players would know what I'm talking about, the DF Talk is basically one and a half hours of "so, yeah, the new siege system. It'll be, like, uhm, this, new, like, challenge that'll, like, improve the way the AI handles and, uhm, ...". Ugh. The latest podcast opened with a very promising discussion on the topic (ingame physics) and how the heck they were going to be able to talk about it.
In short, I'd love a PR podcast, but only as long as it's not overly lengthy, and professionally delivered. I don't want you to be reading from a script, but you need to have a good idea as to what you're going to talk about, what your key points will be, how you will distribute your allocated time, etc.
Also, may I suggest after-action reports? I love muitocomplicado's gameplay videos on YouTube, and I've done a couple AARs for the FS mod (two in text form with illustrations, and one video). Couldn't you do at least a couple podcasts that basically took a particularly good round of PR and described the experience, going through whatever you find interesting (tactics and strategy employed, some background stuff on the map, etc.).

You know it's gonna be good when it opens with the hosts basically saying, "so what was the topic again?".Rainseeker: So our topic for this week is sciences and we decided to do that on the tail of the last vote because it came in second. We proceeded to run a little vote and most of you listening probably saw that where we asked people what they thought about what sciences we should look at. We'll probably address others as well, however we did get a winning vote and Capn, could you let me know what those winning votes were?
Capntastic: Oh man ... My memory span ... Going to the thread ... Our winners are in order of top to bottom we have: Physics with four hundred and ninety seven votes; Chemistry with three hundred and sixty six; and Psychology and Sociology with three hundred and twenty six.
Rainseeker: Now Tarn and I virtually looked at each other and said 'what the heck are we going to talk about with physics? Why did we even put that on the vote?' But we're going to try to do it anyway. So when is Dwarf Fortress going to be like Half-Life 2?

Of course theiceman, that could be another thing. Not much to say about a screenshot, but still, it's cool to have it.

About the redundance of highlights or dev blogs and such, I think it would be good to have them only if there is a sort of an in depth analysis, explaning in details or some specific aspects or even let the players comment them (acutely arguments not the "wow, awesome" kind of comments ^^).
Having also a good, professional pros/cons critic.
In another world, having a journalistic point of view of the highlights and dev blogs and not just to simply relay the info.

Re: PR Magazine maybe a go....?
Well as of now, we have 3 active members. We are currently working on the first issue (i.e brainstorming ideas) and will of course use community ideas
. We welcome anyone who is interested in joining the team, but please make sure you are ready to put in the time and effort that will be required.
@PlasmaSoldier Yes we readily welcome your idea ( since I read your thread and gave me the idea xD)
Anyways if anyone else is interested please feel free to PM me.
sylent/shooter
EDIT: We will be having featured screenshots. Taken from the picture editing thread, and reader submitted work. I would be glad to include ideas from the community, as I think thats how we'll actually get readers. So keep 'em coming guys.
And unfortunately, the magazine will not be able to have videos in it, as the hosting provider doesn't give that option. (I Think) I'm still waiting to hear back from them in regards to the problem.

No Magazine, the Fora are the magazine. Podcasts are what is missing. It would be much more personable, in that we can hear the DEV's plus we can consume it while we do other things.

Quick question, are you guys still working on this?
