EDIT: STILL OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!
Hello! im having a bit of a problem with my pc, basically every game i play on, my computer crashes, it never used to do this, just within the last month or so, it started happening after i was trying lord of the rings online, and stuck it on maximum settings, which my computer runs the game at a nice fps of around 30-40, and before would be able to play ages with no hasle, but then the game crashed after about 30-60 minutes of playing. Since then project reality, arma 1, fallout 3 and far cry 2, would come to a halt via blue screen or crashing to desktop.
Now to just show how rediculous this is, ive been playing gta san andreas and after 30-45 mins of playing i will either crash to desktop (error report), have a blue screen about nv4.disp or/and paged in non page area or even worse, the game would start freaking out and the roads would turn pink and the the sky goes black and then the computer just dies or the picture goes funky, then my moniter goes into standby while the audio from the game continues. Now i downloaded ntune, logged temperatures of my gpu, at maximum settings on gta it goes no higher than 67, which should be fine, and then i turn the settings down to low detail, no aa, res 1024x768 and the temperature doesnt go over 54, still crashes.
To try and fix this, i have decreased settings in games, i have uninstalled gpu drivers, used driver sweeper, then installed older drivers, (tried a couple). Still no joy, am i going to have to buy a new gpu or is something else going on? heres my specs
Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80Ghz (2 cores)
Nvidia GT240 1Ghz DDR3
4 Gigs 800Mhz Ram
PSU 650W
Sorry for the lengh of this, but i dont want to spend 100 quid on a new gpu if i dont have to and ive also only had this gpu for around 4-6 months i think. Thanks in advance!

Well how much HD space do you have.varasku wrote:hmmm interesting, see i had my operating system reinstalled recently, however i was getting the problems just before i done the reinstall so im not too sure there
if its small then i would just assume replace it.
It could be a win win, or just a win? right?

oh i dont think its a space issue, i have two hard drives, my operating system is installed on a 150 gig harddrive while i have installed all my games and other programs on a 250 gig hard drive, and ive got 129 gigs free on the first one and 157 gigs free on the second one, this is either ram or graphics card i think. I dont think this is a software problem either because this was happening before the reformat might be my gpu or ram are on their way out, just need a final opinion before i go out and blow 100 quidJohncro wrote:Well how much HD space do you have.

I'm guessing you have driver issues. Please post the first set of drivers you used with your new card, and did you cleanly uninstall them before putting in your GPU for the first time?
Also, what GFX card did you have prior to this one.
- What older versions of compatible drivers have you tried.
- Have you tried your old GFX card back in your machine (with the same drivers you used to use with it).
- Have you tried the new GPU in a different machine?

Check for stability with Prime95,use the second (middle) test for cpu and the
default one (third from the top) for RAM.Run each test for about 10-15 minutes (or until it crashes/errors out)
