This is no a suggestion for door gun mounts or sights, I know they have been suggested like 1000 times. What this is, is a real world example of what they look like as well as a weapon I had never seen before, the GAU-16. I love the idea of having a .50 cal in the sky and I think it would go a long way in making up for the vulnerability of the Huey in general. Frankly I had no idea that the Hueys were even being used this widely in the real world and not being able to fly in PR, door gunning is one of my favorite things to do.
2:00 into the video is where the GAU-16 starts up and the first thing I noticed was the rate of fire is MUCH higher than methodical THUMP, THUMP, THUMP of the standard MaDuce. One of the guys in my clan is involved with Army rotorwing aviation and pointed out that the rate of fire actually changes as the weapon heats up.
Adding a Huey in this configuration to a map like Archer as either an escort for Chinooks or just a light scout would really level the playing field (yes I know, Archer is currently a Canadian map). I think it would really shine on the Iraq maps though. The limited armor means you would have to be careful with it but would also be great for clearing out consecrations of infantry and even taking out light vehicles on the move.

Re: GAU-16 and Huey CAS
Actually i like the way these weapons are mounted, because the door gunner can really aim in front of the chopper and has longer time to efectively hit the target.
Excuse me, but i assume that MaDuce is the weapon mounted on blackhawk in PR?
Yes, it is weird that blufor dont have any CAS on that type of battlefield as is on Archer.
however, i have read somewhere here on forums (maybe Why isnt chinook armed thread) that the devs want all choppers to have doorguns, but its too low in the wishlist.
My two cents

MaDuce = M2 Browning .50 cal, it's in game for the HMG placements for the US
There have been many suggestions to add a weapon to the side of the hueys, and the DEVs are not taking suggestions for factions which have a Military Advisor (US, of course, being one of them).

Locked for resuggestion, claiming not to be a suggestion but still being posted in the suggestions forum.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
