Hey guys, I recently updated my computer to windows 7 and in the process had to wipe my entire computer. I first got this message when attempting to play pr for the first time after my computer update and a full reinstall but I soon remembered that I had forgotten to update bf2, soo I did the super long unistall and reinstall process of everything and then proceeded to reinstall everything in this order:
BF:2
BF:2 patch 1.5
Project Reality Part 1
Project Reality Part 2
After doing this I attempted to play pr and of course got the same error as before: pr.exe has stopped working then pr crashes. I attempted to run as an admin and this time it worked but the BF2 loading box popped up along with the pr one and said: "Please insert the Battlefield 2 install disk and retry" even though I had completely installed and patch BF2 and installed both parts of pr then both programs crash. Then I inserted the BF2 install disk and the fans started up like it was going to work and the screen went black...then crashed to the desktop, no error message. At this point I'm wanting to destroy my computer with a hammer, it takes so long to install this game then I get these error messages and crashes when its finally done. PLEASE, someone has got to be able to help, I love pr but I don't know how much more I'm going to be able to go through again just to have it crash. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: pr.exe crash
First thing, you should install patch 1.41 before 1.50
so download patch 1.41 from BattleField 2 Patch v1.41 Full Client Patch download on Fileplay (bf2_patch_1.41.exe)
In another words, BF2 first launch with a 60 Hz screen refresh rate setting, and your default monitor refresh rate is either higher or lower than 60 Hz, which results in a black screen followed by a crash to desktop when attempting to run the game.
The solution is simple, you should check your monitor's refresh rate.
Go to: Control Panel-->personalization-->Display Settings-->Advanced settings
under "monitor tab", you can see refresh rate of your monitor.
Under the directory "C:\Users\\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\default"
there is a "video.con" file, open it with notepad, and edit the line "VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz"
replace "60Hz" by whatever value your monitor supports.
for example, if your monitor has a refresh rate of 61Hz, the line becomes
"VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@61Hz"
when you're done, save it and you may now try to run the game.
so download patch 1.41 from BattleField 2 Patch v1.41 Full Client Patch download on Fileplay (bf2_patch_1.41.exe)
this may be resulted by the different refresh rate of your monitor from the default BF2 settingsDevilboy65656 wrote: the screen went black...then crashed to the desktop

Re: pr.exe crash
Thanks so much for the replies, I'll get to work on this straight away and the refresh rate does make sense because I replaced my old monitor with a tv that also acts as a computer monitor, hopefully this works.
EDIT: I just checked my monitor stats and when I switch from tv to pc it says "PC 1920 x 1080 @60 Ghz" so the monitor isn't the problem, I'll try totally reinstalling and patching and pray that that works.
EDIT 2: Ok so I reinstalled and patched in order and I got the same problem. I checked my refresh rate and it's 59hz so I went to the video folder and changed it and saved, still the same problem...got anything else?

Re: pr.exe crash
Did you do the 1.41 patch install.Devilboy65656 wrote:Bump, I need this fixed! Anyone?
Because you need to remove everything, including BF2 again if you want to do it correctly.
I'm not sure on the order of things here but;
Install BF2
Restart
Install 1.41
restart
install 1.5
restart
PR Pt1
Restart
PR Pt2
Restart
Play and have fun.
Restart.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<JK

Re: pr.exe crash
Make sure you changed the video refresh rate to 59Hz for the 'default' folder too.
