the filesize for the project reality installer is HUGE!
after i bought bf2 on steam i decided to play a few games then check out PR so i could download it... to my dismay i found the installer to be a total of 3.4 gigabytes, this is .5 GB behind bf2 complete edition.
can someone please create a version of the installer with some SERIOUS compression. after 12 hours of downloading bf2 on steam i dont really have the time to download something of nearly the same size.
can someone compress the installer with something like KGBarchiver (it can compress huge files into a much smaller space, opensource (?)) or UHARC?
thanks in advance.

Use the torrent and you can download parts of it when you have the time.
And welcome to PR, it's well worth the download

There is a lot of stuff in PR and it can't be made any smaller. It will be worth your while downloading it for sure, better than a 2mb mod with only 1 new hand weapon in it

Hell I'd like the installer to be twice the size it is now!
There are some old maps that have been removed from the current version because of the shear size of the mod, or so I've been told at least. Every second you download adds to the awesomeness of the game (/mod)

Sure, I'll just .zip it and email it to you. Cause the devs left an entire game uncompressed right?
Welcome btw
might see you ingame sometime

4 Gb is too much? What is this 2001? I have a 160gig drive and a 2mbit (cheapest you can get here) connection and I had no issues whatsoever with the filesize. If they pack the EvE mod on top of it it will still be fine. You dont need to sit next to the thing and wait for it to be done. For me it was done in about 6 hours and 12 hours is still faster than 24 hour delivery.

This has been discussed numerous times.
The PR files cannot be compressed, you'll simply have to download when you can. As others have said use the torrent if you can't keep it going all the time. Trust us when we say it's worth it
On the actual subject of how big PR is, I suggest you check out some other games on steam. GTA IV @ 18GB and GRID @ 10GB are the two that stick in my mind, comparatively PR is tiny.
Locked.

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "
