Suggestion: Apc with bags.

Post by iAllex »

Granted the fact that I have serched for this suggestion, and like others that I'v searched I never found anything related (tho I can bet there is).
I was thinking if it is possible to load up the APC's with bags, just for the visual impact... and if it would be possible to ressuply from those bags by standing next to them it would be even better :) (bags cannot be dropped, not the same thing as ammo boxes). Some pics of the PR APC's real life counterpart: Image

To me, some of the in-game APC's (esspecially the LAV) look somewhat unequipped for battle.

the LAV is a EA asset, so its not the easiest thing to change, but iirc there are bags on several APCs ingame

indeed, a bag on teh side could mean the difference between life and death on kashan.

I would like to know WHAT is in that bags. Cause looking at pictures 1 and 3, It seems to me that these bags are belonging to the infantry being ferried inside of the apc. Just my laic view, of course.

Yes and that is because most APCs like LAVs are used in conjunction with infantry as a single unit rather than separately. if a unit uses them, each infantry section would have one LAV.
Information in the hands of a critical thinker is invaluable, information alone is simply dangerous.

Hm, maybe a bag or like a spare tire on the LAV/APC for the looks. Sounds like a good idea, and most of them do look kind of blan to me, if thats a word I believe it is though, But maybe like I said a spair tire or something on it. Or like most Stryker Brigades use on their vehicles some bars that surround the Vehicle itself which would look good and in real life add to protection against projectiles and debris.

Aids immersion... and can be added by simple child objects. I support.

Now I catch it, its called mechanized infantry You know :)

On topic, i personally like that idea, but dont give it collision mesh for bullets and/or rockets and stuff, Bcause hanging bags shouldnt make APC a bigger target.

EG: you fire an RPG on a stryker, you miss the body, but you hit the bag. IF it has a coll mesh, you would hurt the stryker, which is not good in all means.

EDIT: However the devs aint accepting suggestions for USMC and stuff, so i guess we should be talking about apcs in general.. (shhh all pics in OP are of american apcs shhh :) )

How about combining this with the movable ammo box suggestion, and make it possible for apcs to be loaded with a supply crate, that you can use to build a FO. When you load it up, those bags appear and you can drop them anywhere, and deploy some assets or just a spawnpoint with ammo.

Have fun coding it :)

Shouldn't be so hard using child objects as mentioned earlier and the resupply stuff..

Maybe we gonna see a battle with APCs used as infantry support and transport instead of APCs used as tanks for once! :D

That resupply thing does (as it seems to me) depend on what is in that bags you know.

As far as they belong to the infantry inside the apc, isnt there only food, rags and other surviving stuff? Is there even any ammo, shouldnt it be inside the apc?

If there is an ammo in these bags, then go for it and make it in-game :D
