CPR hands animation change

Post by boilerrat »

I know this isn't a major thing, but after taking first aid / CPR... The motion with those hands drives me nuts.

Currently, the motion is far too exaggerated. You are supposed to lock your elbows and bend at the hips, instead of bash their rib cage by bending at the elbows.

They should change it to a punching animation and add some realistic speech for example:
"GODDAMMIT LIVE! I LOVE YOU DON'T DIE ON ME!" *sobs*

I think he means punch with a fist on their chest, not actually hit them in face or something like that

More to the point, I believe Chuc allready has worked his *** off animating for this release... I don't think a small thing like that would be important enough to fix... plus i kinda like it

I think part of the problem may be that you can't animate CPR movement from the shoulders, in 1st person at least, as all you see are the arms, otherwise you'd have to move the viewpoint as well.

actually that LOD hasn't got more than the arms

think if it like this, you have a player model everybody else see, a 3rd person model

then you have the model you see, 1st person model. and the first person model, is just arms. they stop somewhere between the albow and the shoulder

So why not change the wievpoint only and not bend arms...?

well when you do CPR you cant bend your arms so i do agree with that and plus 1 on the yelling

the reason you dont bend your arms is because you will get tired really quick and wont be able to sustain cpr for longer periods of time

I think that a proper CPR animation is really hard to do in BF2, if done 100% by the book it'll look kind of odd since its not a perfect system, e.g. you can prone and CPR, you move aroudn while CPRing etc.

WHAT?? no.

the reason you don't bend your arms is that if you do you are not transferring all the force and not doing compressions to the correct depth.

if you really wanted to be anal about this different countries would need their own versions as the EU runs on 30:2 whilst the US uses 15:2 (or at least still did last i checked) and other countries may have even more different systems of resus.

There's a difference between nitpicking, and attention to detail.

I realize this isn't a major game play issue, or on the top of anyone's list.
But this is something that always caught my eye, every detail counts.

OK this would add a new level of immersion. +1! (seriously!)
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

We just finished up Soldier First Responder training, and were taught not to even bother with CPR on the battlefield. I get the purpose in game, but maybe make it just a shaking animation (Check for responsiveness?). Since it's purpose ingame is just to unstick bodies, this kind of fits.
