You must run "pr.exe" to run project reality - BUG

Post by aznricers »

Hi everyone,

This is my first post so please don't flame me.

I've been with reality mod for almost 2 years now, and have had absolutely no trouble with it until now. Back in July, my family recently bought a new Desktop, with windows 7 home premium 64 bit, core 2 quad, 4 gig ddr3, and integrated graphics. Reality mod, didn't run very smoothly, but it was still playable. A few weeks ago, I bought my laptop for college, also running windows 7 home premium 64 bit, with an i5, 4 gig ddr3 and nvidia GT 330M hybrid graphics. I installed battlefield 2 on this laptop and I had no problems, but when I installed realitymod. I'm getting the "You must run "pr.exe" to run project reality" error.

I've spent hours upon hours searching google and realitymod forums. I've made countless shortcuts. Deleted many My Documents\Battlefield 2 folders. Retyped the target and start-ins. tried the affinity single core thing. Nothing has worked. I even tried the autohotkey scripting thing which apparently was for steam users only, but whatever.

I don't see the difference between the Desktop I have downstairs and the Laptop I have now. They're both installed in the same directory on both computers and both games are fully up to date with 1.5 patch and .917 Core and Levels. They both run battlefield 2 fine.

Can someone please helppppppppppppppp!!!!

You short cut should look like this if it's installed correctly:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"

You "start in" window should look like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr"

Your shortcut(target) can do more. I use:
start +widescreen 1 +szx 1600 +szy 1200 +restart +playerName xxxx +playerPassword xxxx

Replace XXXX with your user name and password

Adding this string bypasses the startup video, sets game resolution @1600x1200, logs you in and takes you directly to the server browser.

When installing PR it should choose the main BF2 folder by default. Most get into trouble when they choose the 'mod' folder inside of BF2.

Good luck

neither of ur suggestions worked. I tried closing it and the restarting it as soon as it closes and it did the exact same thing.

I typed that thing in the target, and it skips the intro and login screen and goes straight to the error.

Thanks for trying to help though.

ANYONE ELSE PLEASE HELPPPPP!!!

Please copy and paste the text string in your 'target' and 'start in' windows.
What is the path to your PR.exe?
Did you remember to update with the 1.41 updater before updating with 1.5?

Target:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +restart +playerName aznricers +playerPassword XXXXXXX

(I'm not going to publicly post my password obviously, but it's there in the target)

Start in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\"

And yes I did update 1.41 and then 1.5 and battlefield 2 runs fine.
